New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been having a rough 2024 and speculation is running wild that he may soon be benched. It may not help things that Green Bay Packers legend and former teammate Brett Favre is publicly saying something seems to be "missing" with the controversial QB.

In an interview with TMZ, the NFL Hall of Famer was asked about Rodgers' current season, which has been largely overshadowed by injury and disappointing performance.
"I'm as shocked as anyone. I was singing the praises of the team and, of course, Aaron," Favre admitted of Rodgers. "At times, we've seen glimpses of the old Aaron. Honestly, I don't know how he feels physically. I don't know if that's an issue. Something's missing."
The Jets are in freefall with a 3-8 record, and quarterback Aaron Rodgers is enduring one of the worst statistical seasons of his career, posting just 17 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. With Rodgers soon to be 41 years old, questions are now swirling about whether a potential return to the NFL in 2025 is realistic.
In the wake of QB Daniel Jones' surprise release from the New York Giants, speculation has become rampant that Rodgers may also be dropped or will retire after the 2024 season.
On the latter rumor, Favre is doubtful.
"What I know about Aaron is he's an ultra-competitor. And no one wants to go out either injured, like he did last year or playing the way he and the team have this year," Favre said. "I find it hard to believe a competitor of the magnitude that Aaron has been over the years would go out if it ended today."
Favre and Rodgers had a complicated relationship during their time together with the Green Bay Packers. When Rodgers was drafted in 2005, Favre, the established starter, was reportedly initially hesitant to mentor his potential successor.

Favre's brief retirement and subsequent return in 2008 ultimately led to his trade to the New York Jets, clearing the way for Rodgers to take over as the starting quarterback. While the transition was at times difficult, Rodgers later acknowledged Favre's impact on his career, and the two eventually reconciled, with Rodgers recognizing Favre as a key influence in his development.
It is not surprising that Favre would eventually be asked about his former teammate's situation, but it will remain to be seen whether he has any more insight than anyone else about where Rodgers will end up in the future.
