Paramount+, the streaming service of Paramount Global, will launch two new subscription tiers in the U.K. and Ireland on Nov. 20, its basic (with ads) and premium plans. They will join the standard tier.
The basic (with ads) tier will be priced at £4.99 ($6.45) per month in the U.K. and €5.99 ($6.45) a month in Ireland, while the premium plan will cost £10.99 ($14.19) and €11.99 ($12.90) per month. The price of the standard plan will change to £7.99 ($10.30) and €8.99 ($9.67) per month from £6.99 ($9.02) and €7.99 ($8.60).
The streamer, which has introduced these new options in various international markets since last year, said the move was “part of the ongoing strategy to offer customers a choice of pricing options to enjoy its vast ‘Mountain of Entertainment’.” It added: “The new price structure for the U.K. and Ireland will create a great value entry point to allow more fans to access the platform and – with the launch of the premium plan – provide enhanced video quality, such as 4K UHD and streaming on up to four devices at once.”
The update will mark the introduction of the ad-supported plan in Europe and will extend the premium plan’s availability following its launches in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, and France.
The tier launches come as Paramount+ is debuting new and returning content this fall, including Landman from Taylor Sheridan, starring Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore and Jon Hamm; Lioness, starring Nicole Kidman and Zoe Saldaña; The Agency, produced by George Clooney and starring Michael Fassbender and Richard Gere; plus the return of Yellowstone. The streamer also features U.K. original series, such as Stags and Insomnia.
“Building on the success of our multi-tier strategy in Canada and Australia – where nearly half of our direct-to-consumer sign-ups come from a non-standard plan – we are excited to bring our premium and ad-supported tiers to the U.K. and Ireland,” said Marco Nobili, executive vp and international general manager, Paramount+. “Offering choice to our subscribers is key to the growth of Paramount+, especially as the demand for ad-supported tiers rises across Europe.”
Added Lee Sears, president of international markets advertising sales at Paramount: “By launching the ad-tier plan in the U.K. and Ireland, we are opening up a huge opportunity for advertisers, giving them the ability to engage with our global franchises, series, and films through our digital platform EyeQ. This expansion will enable Paramount’s international advertising team to represent a much wider range of products while providing a comprehensive and connected platform for impactful ad campaigns.”
Ahead of Black Friday, Paramount+ is offering a promotion, running until Dec. 2, on the premium and standard tier pricing. “Customers will benefit from special pricing on the first three months of a monthly plan or the first year of an annual plan,” it said.
