Patrick Mahomes has revealed he and his pregnant wife, Brittany, are on the final countdown to growing their home team.
In an interview with Netflix, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback said the couple's third child is expected "any day now."
"Brittany says I've been stressing her out too much this season," he said, explaining he's hoping "God works the right way" and their baby arrives during a bye week, when the team is not scheduled to play a game.
If that happens, Mahomes added, "everything will work out perfectly."
Patrick and Brittany, both 29, were married in March 2022, and are currently the parents of two children — daughter Sterling, who will be 4 on February 20, and son Patrick, who turned 2 last month.
The family celebrated Christmas early this year since Patrick's team was scheduled to play the Pittsburgh Steelers in Pennsylvania on the holiday.
"Christmas with the Mahomeses is a lot of chasing kids around," Patrick said. "Santa leaves surprises for the kids. Seeing them grow up and understand what the holidays are all about; I'm making those traditions now. I'm hoping to have some that I'll have for the rest of my life."
On Wednesday, December 25, Brittany made her own special memories with their children and shared on Instagram that she spent the day "baking and watching daddy" as well as enjoying "game day snuggles" as the Chiefs took on the Steelers.
Patrick and his team trounced their opponents, winning 29-10, allowing them to take the No. 1 seed in the American Football Conference — a key position in the playoffs as they attempt another Super Bowl win.
Mahomes' last regular-season game is scheduled for Sunday, January 5, when the Chiefs battle the Broncos in Denver.
Patrick said with the birth of his third child, he "can take a break for a long time and just focus on playing football and raising those babies."
