Piers Morgan took a playful swipe at Emily Maitlis ahead of their appearance on The Late Late Show with Patrick Kielty.

On Friday evening (November 22), the controversial broadcaster, 59, sat down with Kielty to discuss his relationship with President-elect Donald Trump and what he thinks the next four years will look like for America and the rest of the World.

Meanwhile, award-winning broadcaster Maitlis, 54, spoke to the Irish presenter about her infamous interview with Prince Andrew which made headlines around the world in 2019.

While on the set of The Late Late Show, Morgan and Maitlis posed for a quick snap which the former Good Morning Britain presenter shared on his Instagram.

Maitlis looked ultra glamorous in a black maxi dress complete with mesh sleeves, while Morgan opted for a navy suit with black shoes.

Making a cheeky jibe at the LBC presenter, he wrote in the caption: "A globally-renowned, award-winning journalist and broadcaster… with Emily Maitlis."

The post caught the attention of fans, with many rushing to complain about Maitlis' behaviour during coverage of the US election.

One fumed: "Not an impartial one though is she!! No credibility any longer," as a second agreed: "She got over Trump winning yet? Does she understand mainstream media has had its day? Nope… it’s the far right!"

Another seething fan commented: "She’s shown her true colours and has disgraced herself, I’m surprised a reasonable journalist like yourself wants to be associated with such a person."

A fourth asked: "Has she stopped swearing and crying yet since Donald Trump won?"

Echoing this, another added: "Seriously?? That woman couldn't control herself during the elections. Not what a professional should be like."

It comes after the Maitlis was hauled off air for swearing after learning that Donald Trump had been elected as the next US president.

Recounting a controversial statement by Trump, she said: "It's not that they disagree about one thing. The whole thing is asymmetric. When Donald Trump talked about eating cats and dogs. Half of America was thinking, 'This is bats**t. I can't believe what he's saying. This is going to be the end of him'."

A guest appeared taken aback as Krishnan Guru-Murthy interjected: "Stop swearing. I have to tell [the guests] off for swearing and then you do it," prompting Emily to swiftly issue an apology for her slip-up.

Just moments later, viewers noted Emily had disappeared from the screen with Krishnan sharing an update.

"I will tell off Emily later because I know she started swearing. It may be the middle of the night in Britain but we're still a little bit sensitive about that stuff," he said.
