Pokemon Legends Z-A starters hiding in plain sight ahead of official reveal

The starter Pokemon for Legends Z-A are hiding in plain sight ahead of the game’s release date or proper reveal.

It’s a good time to be a Pokemon fan, from the new and popular app, Pokemon TCG Pocket, to the continual updates for Niantic’s Pokemon Go, the Prismatic Evolutions TCG set and more.

In addition, there is plenty of hype and anticipation about the release of Pokemon Legends Z-A, the next installment in the historic video game franchise. Given that the last entry, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, is over two years old, theories about when Z-A will be released and what it will entail have run rampant online.

While The Pokemon Company and Nintendo have officially revealed little, speculation that a closer look at the new game on Pokemon Day 2025 has been a leading idea.

However, based on what has been confirmed and when analyzing previous games and patterns, there’s a strong chance that the starter characters for Pokemon Legends Z-A are hiding in plain sight.

The most recent evidence to support this comes from new artwork released to promote the Pokemon World Championship 2025 event. Set to take place between August 15 and August 17, the official cover art for the tournament page showcases Chespin, Fenekin, and Froakie.

Pikachu and others are also present, but these three particular Pokemon stand out from the rest, particularly because they are featured on the poster for the franchise’s biggest competitive event of the year. These posters traditionally feature the starter Pokemon from the current Pokemon video game.

Each new Pokemon game typically introduces a new generation and shakes things with new starters and a different set of Legendaries. Rather than doing this, Legends Arceus had a mix of starters from three different previously released generations, and as Z-A is a sequel to this title, fans expected it to take a similar route.

Based on the poster, however, it’s possible that the Kalos-based game will feature the region’s traditional starter trio. Fans won’t have to wait too long to find out, as Pokemon Day is coming up very soon and a Pokemon Legends Z-A reveal is expected.
