Police have raided the hotel where Liam Payne died!
According to sources close to the investigation via Us Weekly on Wednesday, a raid was underway at CasaSur Hotel in Buenos Aires. Police went with the intent of identifying the hotel staffers who were working on the day of the One Direction alum’s death, October 16, as well as in the days before.
To do this, they were searching through documents from the hotel’s registration books as well as info from computers. Insiders also noted that “the hotel must provide” more security footage to continue piecing together Liam’s last moments.

A police source also told local outlet La Nacion on Thursday morning:
“Personnel from the Special Investigations Division and the Special Technological Investigations Division were deployed [Wednesday] afternoon to the CasaSur Hotel in Palermo where the singer Liam Payne lost his life last week to carry out a raid […] to obtain elements of interest for the investigation.”
A second insider noted the police were after “documents and videos” from the lobby and courtyard, where Liam fell. Police have aquired the hotel’s computers, phones, and other devices. Photos of the raid show cops standing in what appears to be the lobby, checking out the computers and talking with employees. See HERE.
As Perezcious readers know, the Polaroid singer died after jumping from his balcony. He was reportedly acting erratically, had been partying with two alleged prostitutes, and had multiple drugs in his system at the time of the fall. The chief receptionist called 911 just minutes before his passing, requesting assistance because he was “trashing” his room and they feared for his safety.
A friend told The US Sun that the 31-year-old had been trying to renew his American visa and had to take a drug test when he arrived in the country. He got tested on September 30, and the results came back clean and sober just one day before he died. He’d also been vacationing with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy until she returned home on October 12. So, that means he relapsed just days before his death. Oof.
Police are said to be investigating two hotel staff who have been suspected of supplying drugs to Liam, possibly via a Dove soap box, which was found in his room after his death alongside other drug paraphernalia. A friend said:
“Liam had tried really hard to get clean, then he’s been preyed upon. These people just care about money – they don’t care about putting people’s lives in danger. It’s an evil trade. This is all just tragic.”
So, so sad.
The Strip That Down singer’s father Geoff Payne — who is in Argentina waiting to bring home his son’s body — has been helping the investigation. The authorities said he wants to get to the bottom of what happened and has agreed to share any information he has that might help. The singer’s bodyguard, Paul Higgins, has also been seen working on the case, such as by assisting police in reviewing security footage from the hotel alongside Geoff and questioning hotel staffers, per reports.
We hope, for the family’s sake, this investigation turns up some answers. Nothing can bring the musician back, but some understanding about his last moments and justice where it’s necessary could go a long way in Liam’s loved ones’ grieving process.
