Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Archewell charity's latest tax return reveals a mystery donor gave it $£5million.

Documents published today show that in the year 2023, an unnamed benefactor gave Archewell the cash, which translates to £4million - the largest contribution listed in the document. The Archewell Foundation, launched by Harry and Meghan, is a non-profit organisation whose mission is to “show up, do good”, according to its website.

Its annual impact report for 2023 to 2024, published on its website, outlines work the foundation has conducted this year, including the public launch of its Parents’ Network to support those whose children have experienced online harm.

The report is accompanied by a video on the Archewell Foundation’s website which shows Harry and Meghan hugging people, attending charity events and posing for photos with other guests. Set to the song A Sky Full Of Stars by Coldplay, the one-minute and twenty-second-long video features a voiceover in which Harry thanks others for inspiring him.

In a clip from an event, Meghan says: "When you show up in a community, you find that group that makes you feel like home but oftentimes you also find yourself again." It also details the expansion of the Welcome Project, which brings together recently resettled women through social activities such as cooking, swimming or hiking.

In the financial report, it shows that in the last year, it has awarded £1.3million in grants to charitable causes across the world. The report shows that expenditure on costs such as salaries and travel totalled $2million with James Holt, the co-executive director, paid a salary of $228,500 plus $18,428 in benefits. Fellow co-executive director Shauna Nep earned $272,241 plus additional benefits totaling $26,356.

The Sussexes themselves are not paid a salary from the charity and the tax return states they only work one hour per week. PEOPLE reports that this is "standard practice for directors of US tax-exempt organisations".

Elsewhere in the new report, it is revealed that one of the charities benefitting from a grant from Archewell is one launched by the daughter of US President Joe Biden, Ashley Biden. The report reveals that Archewell is a founding partner of Women's Wellness (Spa)ce, a trauma-informed wellness center for women founded by the president's daughter. Records show the organisation received $250,000 from Archewell.

In a message from Archewell's co-executive directors say: "In a world that often feels fractured, there are moments that cut through the noise, reminding us of our strength when we stand together: resilience, courage, and a commitment to something greater than ourselves.

"This year, at The Archewell Foundation, we’ve witnessed the transformative power of human connection—of people reaching across divides to uplift one another. Our purpose is simple yet impactful: to show up, do good.

"To drive positive change, rally for communities in need, and nurture spaces where everyone is seen, valued, and supported. In 2024, we were honoured to work alongside communities, families, and individuals who, despite facing tremendous hardship, are redefining what’s possible."
