Quincy Jones shared a message for his daughter just hours before his death: 'I love you eternally'

Quincy Jones' final post was a message for one of his nearest and dearest.

The American record producer, who worked with the likes of Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra and more died on Sunday night (Monday in Australia) aged 91.

His publicist confirmed he died in his Los Angeles house surrounded by family.

Just hours before his death, the music genius wished his daughter Martina a happy 58th birthday on social media.

"Happy Birthday to my Tina Beena @martinafotos1!! 🎉," he wrote to Instagram.

The producer shared a photo of himself posing next to his daughter.

"So proud to be yo papa! Big hug, I love you eternally," he added.

Jones shared seven children from different relationships.

He had five daughters, Jolie, 69, Rachel, 59, Kidada, 50, Rashida, 48 and two sons, Quincy III, and Kenya, 31.

His daughter Rashida, whom he welcomed with model Peggy Lipton, is an actress notably known for her roles in sitcoms Parks and Recreation and The Office. 

Jones had frequently posed about his kids on social media, marking their birthdays.

In September 2023, he shared a photo to Instagram of him with his whole family all dressed in Tommy Hilfiger for a group picture.

"If you know anything about me, then you already know my family is IT for me, so these pics will forever hold a special place in my [heart]," he wrote. 

"Thank-Q to my precious pie Kidada for pulling this all together & giving the family a much-needed excuse to get all our booties in the same room!"

His family released a joint statement paying tribute to their dad after his death.

"Tonight, with full but broken hearts, we must share the news of our father and brother Quincy Jones' passing," the statement began.

"And although this is an incredible loss for our family, we celebrate the great life that he lived and know there will never be another like him.

"He is truly one of a kind and we will miss him dearly; we take comfort and immense pride in knowing that the love and joy, that were the essence of his being, was shared with the world through all that he created," the statement continued.

"Through his music and his boundless love, Quincy Jones' heart will beat for eternity."
