Last week’s episode of Real Housewives of New York caused quite a stir among longtime fans. The new season was already receiving criticism for being overproduced but the November 12 episode, which featured a fake pregnancy storyline, put viewers over the edge. Viewers have called the show “unwatchable” and even Bravo God Andy Cohen admitted he’s not a fan of all the pranks.
Episode 8 titled, “Birds of a Feather Gossip Together,” focused on the aftermath of the pregnancy prank as the women pieced together who knew what about the controversial stunt. If you missed the chaos, don’t worry, we have you covered.
Here is everything that happened on Real Housewives of New York, Season 15, Episode 8…
What happened on Season 15, Episode 8 of Real Housewives of New York?
Tonight, the women discussed last week’s infamous dodgeball drama and discovered that Erin was the secret puppet master, Brynn made plans for her future with her ex, Gideon. Jessel and Pavit went to therapy, and Racquel and Mel visited a sex shop. It was a whole lot of filler but there were some fun moments sprinkled in there.
Keep reading for a more detailed recap of Episode 8.
Erin and Rebecca reveal their pregnancy prank
Tonight’s episode picked up right where we left off with Rebecca and Erin revealing they made up the pregnancy rumor to see who was the least trustworthy in the group. The women were unimpressed with the joke, especially since Jessel and Ubah are trying to get pregnant. Sai pointed out that it was a bit tone deaf given that pregnancy is a sensitive subject in this group of ladies.
It’s yet another example of how Season 15 of RHONY falls short compared to earlier seasons. We were already upset about the drama feeling constructed and produced but watching Erin and Rebecca craft a storyline in front of our eyes may be enough for some viewers to turn off the TV.
Brynn opens up about wanting to start a family
Brynn brushed off being exposed as a “leaky pigeon” and went on a hunt with Jessel to find some single sailors in town for Fleet Week- a week-long celebration in New York to honor the United States Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. The women donned sailor hats and sat by the pier, hoping to catch the eye of a sailor but they had no luck. The sailors had moved inland to Hell’s Kitchen.
Once they realized the sailors were MIA, they moved on to more serious topics. Brynn revealed she had her eggs frozen in London and expressed concern about whether she’ll be able to start a family at 38 years old. She spoke about the dwindling dating scene in New York and how it’s been hard to find “Mr. Right” in her late thirties.
“I feel like Carrie Bradshaw who made the biggest mistake of her life not marrying Aiden,” she said in a confessional.
Speaking of Mr. Right, it looks like Brynn’s ex Gideon is still in the picture. She told Jessel that she and her former fiancé are babysitting a child together to see how they work as co-parents. She’s interested in having a child with him but doesn’t know if she sees a romantic future. Also, he doesn’t know about this whole “co-parenting” set-up. He thinks he’s meeting Brynn for a wine tasting, not a babysitting gig.
Racquel and Mel visit a sex shop in preparation for their engagement party
While Jessel and Brynn looked for sailors, newbie Racquel, and her fiance Mel took a trip to a speakeasy sex shop called Lady Konfidential to shop for their upcoming engagement party. Racquel told the store owner that the theme of the party is “Ballroom,” taking inspiration from the New York City queer community. Racquel and Mel shop for suggestive decor and have another conversation about Racquel’s complicated relationship with her mother, who hasn’t been very supportive of her queer journey.
In a confessional, Racquel shares that her mom has become more conservative since moving back to Puerto Rico and she is unsure if her mother will ever be able to accept her new relationship.
The Real Housewives of New York women visit the Museum of Sex
Racquel then joins Brynn, Ubah, and Sai at the Museum of Sex, while Jessel and Erin spend the day with their moms and their kids (obviously, not at the Museum of Sex). The women at the museum compete in a competition to see who can grab the most fake dicks as they pop out of a bathroom stall. Yes, you read that right. This is definitely not an episode you want to watch with your mom. Producers keep cutting between Brynn and Sai’s grab competition and Erin and Jessel playing blocks with their kids. I’ll admit, the contrast is pretty funny.
The game comes to an end (thank God) and the women revisit Erin and Rebecca’s infamous pregnancy prank. Brynn reveals that she knew it was a prank, telling the women that Erin told her it wasn’t true that Rebecca didn’t know who the father was. She decided to play along, which is why she told everyone Rebecca is in an open relationship. Erin told Jessel a different story, saying Brynn did not know it was a prank. However, Brynn’s side is proven true when producers cut back to footage of Brynn telling Ubah to “play along” with the prank at the dodgeball game.
While Brynn was happy to assist in the prank, she’s less thrilled to find out the stunt was actually a test to see who is the “leaky pigeon” in the group. The women start to question Erin’s motives and suspect she was trying to make Brynn look bad. Yikes, yeah this is backfiring on Erin for sure. The women plan to confront her at the next group gathering.
Jessel and Pavit go to couples therapy on Real Housewives of New York
Jessel and Pavit meet with their therapist via Zoom to work on their communication issues, mostly surrounding the topic of a third baby. We learn that Pavit is 99 percent sure he doesn’t want a third baby but Jessel is clinging to that 1 percent with dear life. The only thing different about this scene than the four other conversations we’ve seen them have on this topic is that Pavit has gone down a percentage point. I’m sorry but it’s boring to see them have the same conversation over and over with the same result each time. I can’t help but reminisce about the days we were watching Sonja Morgan clean her underwear in her bidet. New RHONY just can’t compete.
Brynn plans a future with her ex Gideon
Jessel isn’t the only one planning to expand her pod. That’s right, it’s time for Brynn to corner her ex, Gideon, about fathering her child. She lures him to her apartment with the false promise of wine tasting, but actually, she is babysitting a little boy named Luca. She asks him if he would be interested in donating sperm so she can make an embryo with one of her frozen eggs. He’s a bit shocked at first but agrees to the idea, telling Brynn she would make a great mother. Aw! I don’t understand why she doesn’t want to be with him. They’re so cute together. Brynn says she wants to have a baby by 40, so we may see a little Brynn on RHONY sooner than expected.
The RHONY women gather for a picnic
Tonight’s episode ends with the women gathering for a picnic in the park. Brynn tells Jenna (who has barely been in the episode) that she knew about the prank. Jenna feels misled by Erin. She joins Racquel, Sai, and Ubah in thinking Erin’s motives were to hurt Brynn.
Brynn plans to confront Erin for misrepresenting the story and viewers think we’re going to see some sh*t go down but then, the episode ends on a cliffhanger. Ughhhh.
Tonight’s episode was a bit of a flop. There were no blowup fights, no iconic lines, and no memorable moments. I hate to say this, but the RHONY reboot isn’t working. I like the cast, so I’m hoping the season improves but it’s hard not to compare it to the other Real Housewives shows that are thriving right now.
Real Housewives of New York airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
