Rebekah Vardy left 'feeling really hurt' after swipe at Coleen Rooney sparks backlash

2 hours ago 5

The notorious “Wagatha Christie” trial landed Rebekah Vardy in hot water after she denied selling stories about her former friend, Coleen Rooney to the Sun newspaper. Rebekah is in trouble again this week after writing about Coleen in her regular Sun column.

There’s been a massive backlash against her brutal treatment of her WAG rival, which started with Vardy expressing her delight that Coleen sank in the river twice: “It's the gift that keeps on giving,” she wrote.

Vardy, who herself appeared in I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here in 2017, crowed that she wanted to see Coleen eating “humble pie” and “penis” as she began her stint in the jungle: “She likes to be the victim,” Vardy wrote, “I’ll never forgive her."

She also accused Coleen – who reportedly is being paid a record £1.5m for her appearance – of “following in her footsteps” because she had “always wanted [Vardy’s] life.”

But the remarks have met with a chilly response, and the occasional Loose Women contributor told Closer Magazine that her weight loss is down to the “stress diet.”

“It’s all been too much with everything going on at the moment,” she complained.

An anonymous pal of the WAG confided: “Rebekah can’t believe she is getting so much hate – she had hoped her column would have painted her in a positive way, but it is having the opposite effect.”

Vardy feels she “can’t say anything” after receiving a torrent of “negative feedback” about her column. She’s also reportedly been distressed by a number of jokes at her expense from I’m A Celebrity hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donelly. She described Ant and Dec’s humour as “lame” but she’s reportedly been left feeling “really hurt” behind the scenes.

Vardy is also feeling stressed-out by the court’s decision to order her to pay 90% of Coleeen’s £1.8m legal expenses, and she’s attempting to dispute some of the details of the bill, including a number of nights at a top London hotel and what she describes as “excessive” food and drinks expenses.

In order to make some of the money she needs, Vardy will have to write about I’m A Celebrity for another three weeks: “Becky used to admire Ant and Dec,” the source revealed, “now she can’t stand watching anything to do with the show – but she knows she has top, because she needs to talk about it for the next three weeks.”
