Rebekah Vardy has taken a swipe at "smug" Coleen Rooney in a thinly-veiled jibe before the finale of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!

With Coleen's odds to win the ITV show dropping to 9/4 following the exits of Barry McGuigan and Maura Higgins on Thursday, Rebekah expressed her thoughts in her newspaper column.

She wrote: "A few people looked shocked to be in the final that's for sure but someone definitely looked a bit smug and not surprised, hmm... Well, looking forward to tonight's show to see who ends up in the final."

Coleen Rooney on I'm A Celebrity

Coleen Rooney is now 9/4 to win this series of I'm a Celeb

The column was published on Wednesday, prior to the unexpected double eviction. Now, at 38, Coleen is poised to face the iconic Celebrity Cyclone trial, which is traditionally held before the final. Since Coleen's arrival in the jungle, Rebekah has been openly critical of her adversary, calling her "dull" and even expressing a desire to see her eat a bull's penis.

At the beginning of the series, while Rebekah jetted off for a luxurious holiday with her footballer spouse Jamie, she didn't hesitate to mockingly say how "hilarious" it was that Coleen would be roughing it in the jungle simultaneously.

The famed Cyclone trial remains a milestone many celebrities aim to achieve and when this series kicked off last month, the latest edition of the challenge appeared to be no different.

However, on I'm a Celebrity: Unpacked, host Joel Dommett revealed that the remaining campmates will compete against each other for a chance to win immunity from the next two public votes, securing their spot in the highly-anticipated trial.

He explained: "Over the next two days, the campmates will be competing for this,' before holding up an enormous ticket that says Ticket To The Cyclone. Whoever wins this will be safe from the next two vote offs and will be guaranteed a place in the trial everyone wants to do. Celebrity Cyclone."
