Rebekah Vardy 'wants to emulate Coleen Rooney's success' with CBB stint

Rebekah is hoping to have her moment in the spotlight with a stint on Celebrity Big Brother, claims a source - and replicate arch nemesis Coleen's success in the jungle

We have a few months to wait until we can settle down with the popcorn and welcome a whole new season of drama on Celebrity Big Brother, yet the usual speculation about who is heading in is already doing the rounds.

As rumours intensify that WAG and mum-of-five Rebekah Vardy could be heading into the famous house, a source claims to OK! that there can only be one driving force behind the move - her arch nemesis Coleen Rooney and her recent success in the I’m A Celebrity… jungle.

“It’s looking very likely that Rebekah Vardy could be doing Celebrity Big Brother. And Becky will be hoping very much to emulate Coleen’s success in the jungle, and turn public opinion around totally, with a stint on the show’, the source told us. “She would hope for everyone to fall in love with her and be offered exciting projects off the back of it, just as Coleen has experienced with I’m A Celeb - and a primetime show like Celebrity Big Brother would be a great vehicle for a whole host of opportunities.”

It has been two months since Becky, and the rest of the nation, watched transfixed from home as her former rival in court and fellow WAG, Coleen, 38, rolled up her sleeves, removed all traces of glam make-up and headed into the famous jungle.

And although she didn’t win, placing as runner up behind King of the jungle Danny Jones, the doting Liverpudlian mum-of-three, who is married to former football pro Wayne, certainly won the nation’s hearts, with her sweet, down-to-earth nature, her eagerness to get stuck into those grim bushtucker trials and her juicy stories around the campfire.

Now, it seems the odds are high that Becky - who herself competed on I’m A Celebrity back in 2017, lasting 16 days before being the third campmate to be voted out - could soon be centre-stage, as one of the housemates on telly’s next big reality show. According to Gambling.com, the 42-year old - who is married to Leicester striker Jamie, is the 11/8 favourite to sign up for this year’s show, followed by Paris Fury, at 6/4.

Such a show could be great for Becky. But if she uses it as an opportunity to badmouth Coleen at all rather than just be herself - as she did more than once in her I’m A Celebrity newspaper column where she commented on the show (at one point gleefully pointing out, ‘Coleen sank in the river twice. It’s the gift that keeps on giving”) - the move has the potential of doing the opposite of what she might hope, claims our source.

“It could backfire on her, as Coleen is very well-loved. She was a huge hit in the jungle, everyone fell in love with her. But this was Becky’s worst nightmare. She had a column in a national newspaper in which she commented on the goings-on in I’m A Celeb, but many thought she was far too harsh with her comments about Coleen.”

As for Coleen, following her reported £1.5million paycheck for the jungle, she is continuing her success with the recent launch of a new wellness range with Applied Nutrition, a deal that could bring in millions. And the source goes on to claim that all she wants now is for Becky to ‘drop’ any notion of competition or one-upmanship, so they can both get on with their lives.

“The jungle showed that Coleen was just a lovely, family-oriented girl, but Becky still feels like there’s unfinished business between them, and if she does go into CBB, sparks could fly, and Coleen will have to put up with whatever she may say about her on-air.”

The pair have locked horns since 2019, when in the now-infamous Wagatha Christie scandal, Coleen accused Becky of leaking her private information to the press. They were subsequently embroiled in a legal case which found in Coleen’s favour - though the latter continues to maintain her innocence. Few could have predicted that a row that began with a single Instagram post could have morphed into one of the 21st century’s most extraordinary celebrity sagas.

One thing’s for sure, if Becky does go into Celebrity Big Brother, where shock revelations about fellow celebs are 10 a penny (who could forget loose-lipped Louis Walsh last season?), she may not be done when it comes to bringing up her epic feud with Coleen - something that would be sure to delight show bosses. On the other hand, Becky could surprise us all and stay clear of any chat about her fellow WAG completely. Either way, we’d be in for some epic telly. Watch this space, we say….
