Renée Zellweger Reportedly Has Feelings About Ant Anstead Working With Ex Christina Haack Again

Ant Anstead and his ex-wife Christina Haack had a contentious divorce and child custody battle over their son, Hudson, 5, in 2021. Fast forward to 2024 and it looks like the exes have found a path forward, but it doesn’t sound like Anstead’s girlfriend, Renée Zellweger, is thrilled by their work plans together.

The Born Mechanic host made a cameo on The Flip Off, Haack’s upcoming HGTV show with first ex-husband Tarek El Moussa and Heather Rae El Moussa. She originally was supposed to star in the home renovation show with her estranged husband, Josh Hall, but their divorce got him removed from the show. It’s a tangled web of relationships, but Zellweger is reportedly “wary of the situation” with Anstead back in the fold, according to Life & Style.

The insider confirmed that “Renée trusts Ant,” but she is reportedly a little nervous about Ant’s history with Christina.” Anstead has been understanding about his girlfriend’s “apprehension.” The source noted, “But it’s a paying job, and he’s assured her everything will be fine.”

The idea to have Anstead appear on the show was first floated by a fan who commented on Haack’s July 19 Instagram post. “How awesome would it be to have Ant replace Josh on the flip off? Ratings would go through the roof. If it happens, I need some credit. Lol,” they wrote.

Haack responded positively to the idea and commented back, “LOL that would be a genius ‘ratings’ idea just sayin.’” She then ran to Anstead’s account and gave him an Instagram follow — the lines of communication opened again! It’s unclear how big of a role the TV personality will have on his ex-wife’s show, but a People source noted that he won’t be Christina’s partner.” It sounds like it’s a one-off appearance for Anstead.

The truce between Haack and Anstead was reportedly Zellweger’s idea in the first place. She wanted her boyfriend to make peace with his ex for Hudson’s sake. “She convinced Ant it’s silly to hold grudges and hated seeing him so worked up. Things are better now. She’s extended the olive branch to Christina, too, and looking forward to a drama-free holiday season,” a Life and Style source said in October.

It sounds like Zellweger has nothing to worry about, Haack is still navigating her divorce from Hall and Anstead is smitten with his girlfriend.
