Heather Gay filmed the latest season of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City with her post-Ozempic body on display. The look was definitely a change from what fans were used to. Some praised the Good Time Girl author, while others faulted her for selling out for the ideal body.
However, it seems that Heather took time to self-reflect on her choices. The Beauty Lab + Laser owner decided to not continue taking Ozempic after coming to terms with her new body.
Heather Gay is seeking “body neutrality”
The RHOSLC star told ABC News that she felt more confident in her body before taking the semaglutide. Heather also reflected on the message the weight loss sent to her daughters, as well as her fans.
“I look at those pictures of myself and those episodes and think, I love that girl. That girl was braver and stronger and had more confidence being overweight than I did after taking medication,” Heather shared.
A percentage of RHOSLC fans felt that Heather “sold out.” She was previously hailed as the best representation of a realistic woman’s body on the Real Housewives franchise.
“I’ve apologized for my body my entire life… and I’d rather just have body neutrality. I love myself heavy. I love myself now. It’s a journey and that changed the way I saw who I was,” Heather shared.
The mother-of-three shared an experience post-Ozempic that was “sad for women.” Heather said that people were nicer to her after she lost weight. But ultimately, it was her concern for her daughters that was the most compelling.
“I don’t want them to have my genetics or have to struggle with society’s standards of beauty. I just wish that there was a solution for all of us. But I’m feeling like I’m coming into my own a little bit and I think the glow-up might be a little bit from that, too. But I’ll give credit to all the medical intervention. It’s my business,” Heather said of her daughters.
