A split of Heather Gay and her six must-read book covers Heather Gay's six favorite books are all nonfiction reads.

When she’s not filming her hit Bravo reality show, Heather Gay loves to curl up with a good book.

“When I’m reading for pleasure, I often read nonfiction books,” The “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star — whose second memoir, “Good Time Girls,” hit stands Tuesday — tells Page Six.

“Don’t get me wrong: I love a good novel! But the truth is always more impactful than fairy tales,” she adds.

See below for Gay’s list of must-reads.

“The Comfort Crisis” by Michael Easter

"The Comfort Crisis" by Michael Easter

“I’ve actually met Michael Easter in real life — we even shared nachos with him at a Mexican restaurant in Las Vegas when we happened to cross paths. His books feel like life coaching from someone who is worthy of the title. I love his observations and suggestions, and I would join his church if he started an organized religion.”

“What I Ate in One Year” by Stanley Tucci

"What I Ate in One Year" by Stanley Tucci

“Whenever I see Stanley Tucci in a movie, in an ad or on my Instagram feed, it stops me in my tracks. I love the way he looks, the way he speaks and the energy that emanates from him. He makes me feel like everything is all right in the world. I want to live, eat and act like he does, and this book gives me the behind-the-scenes details I crave.”

“Good Time Girl” by Heather Gay

"Good Time Girl" by Heather Gay

“‘Good Time Girl’ is full of stories that I wanted to include in my first book that proved I was a ‘Bad Mormon’ all along. My editors, however, explained to me that my first book could not be over 500 pages. Now, just a few years later, I get to tell these stories with a little more time, distance, bravery and humor. Tragedy plus time can not only create comedy, but it can also create perspective — perspective that has allowed me to tell these stories with more transparency than I could’ve a few years ago.”

“The Poisonwood Bible” by Barbara Kingsolver

"The Poisonwood Bible" by Barbara Kingsolver

“This book has never left me since I first read it. I’ve reread it countless times over the years. The characters’ voices and journey felt so real to me. The story of this family’s faith pulled at my heartstrings and made me question my own faith along the way.”

“Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim” by David Sedaris

"Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim" by David Sedaris

“I’ve always felt like I could’ve grown up in David Sedaris’ family and fit right in. I resonate with every one of his stories and observations, and I find myself laughing out loud with his descriptions and wiping away tears with his analogies. He is the greatest humorist of our time! I could recommend anything he’s written, but since I feel like family, ‘Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim’ just feels right.”

“JFK Jr.: An Intimate Oral Biography” by RoseMarie Terenzio and Liz McNeil

An Intimate Oral Biography" by RoseMarie Terenzio and Liz McNeil

“JFK Jr. was the Prince Charming of my generation, and his life and legacy have always captivated me. Reading intimate vignettes of his life in such a planned, digestible way makes this book a gem for readers and non-readers alike.”
