Boxing legends Ricky Hatton and Olympic gold medallist Nicola Adams are set to host the 2025 British Boxing Awards.
The star-studded event, which will take place in London on Friday 28 March 2025, has revealed its shortlist of nominees. This inaugural ceremony is a first for the boxing industry, celebrating not only those who have achieved success in and out of the ring but also the organisations contributing to the sport's growth and grassroots and charitable initiatives.
Among the nominees for Boxer of the Year are Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury, Daniel Dubois and Nick Ball. Katie Taylor, the undisputed and lineal world lightweight champion since 2019, is up for Women’s Boxer of the Year, alongside Chantelle Cameron, Savannah Marshall and Olympic bronze medallist Cindy Ngamba.
Boxing greats Frank Bruno and Lennox Lewis have also been recognised for their work promoting access to the sport at grassroots level, as has promoter Eddie Hearn for his work with the Matchroom Charitable Foundation. Frank Bruno has been put forward for the Outstanding Contribution to the Sport of Boxing award, rubbing shoulders with some major names including the Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority,
His Excellency Turki Alalshikh, Gold Star Promotions' Spencer Brown, Frank Warren of Queensbury Promotions, and Barry McGuigan from Cyclone Promotions. Meanwhile, key figures fostering the rise of British boxing globally are on the shortlist too—think big shots like Frank Warren, Eddie Hearn, founder and chairman of Matchroom, and Boxxer's very own Ben Shalom—all acclaimed for their hefty contributions to the biz.
And it's not just individuals getting a nod, as boxing-oriented charities such as BT Sport Boxing Community Programme, Grassroots Amateur Boxing Lottery (GRAB), and Boxing Futures could snag trophies for their altruistic efforts. Global brands aren't left out either; we're talking Adidas, Misfits Boxing, Applied Nutrition, Lonsdale, Sting Sports, Bet365, and Sky Sports, all vying for recognition for their sterling support in expanding the sport's reach.

PA)Nicola Adams, lined up to host the 2025 British Boxing Awards, commended the nominees: "This is an incredible shortlist. The British Boxing Awards will shine a light on the people and organisations contributing to the phenomenal growth of the sport. Boxing champions, both in and out of the ring, will be recognised and commended for their work in the sport."
Heidi Afzhar from the British Boxing Awards chimed in with her thoughts as well. "This is a landmark moment for UK boxing, highlighting the incredible talent and hard work that’s driving the sport forward. From world-class trainers and promoters to those making a real impact in communities, the British Boxing Awards shortlist showcases the very best our sport has to offer. It’s a major milestone and every nominee should be incredibly proud. It is going to be a wonderful event and I cannot wait to see everyone on 28 March."
