While a new mom was ready to chat to the charity worker who had come calling at her front door, her daughter had other ideas.
The first year of parenthood can be filled with stress and uncertainty. According to a 2022 survey conducted by OnePoll on behalf of CeraVe, the average parent spends more than 1,600 hours holding their newborn and has 77 sleepless nights in the first year.
The poll, which surveyed 2,000 U.S. parents with children aged between 0 and 2, also found that they make an average of 56 phone calls to their own parents and 67 to medical experts.
Outside of sleep, there's rarely a moment of peace with an infant around, as Lily Gilbert, a 28-year-old new mom from Hereford, England, can attest.
One recent morning, she answered the door while holding her newborn daughter, Winnie. Gilbert opened the door to find a charity representative and a short conversation ensued.
However, any hopes of the discussion continuing were quickly quashed by Winnie, who let out an incredibly loud "poonami" that left her mom with little option but to say goodbye to the visitor and deal with her daughter's diaper immediately.
A "poonami" refers to instances when a baby's bowel movement is of such a substantial quantity and consistency that almost no diaper stands a chance of containing it.
Gilbert can be seen saying hello before quickly making her apologies and heading back inside, with the charity worker being understanding about her plight.
A Ring security camera captured the incident, and the footage was subsequently shared with Newsweek.
Gilbert told Ring: "I was in total shock at first and didn't know what to do! When I watched the video back I found it absolutely hilarious and had to send it to my husband straight away."
Despite the unexpected nature of the incident, Gilbert was well prepared for such an occurrence and encouraged others who found themselves in similar situations to "just laugh and have plenty of baby wipes to hand."
The video is the latest in a series of viral baby-related clips captured on Ring devices.
