Roku has reached more than 90 million streaming households as of the first week of January 2025.

The streaming platform provided the update Tuesday, after saying in October that it no longer plans to give quarterly updates on its streaming household numbers and average revenue per user. As of October, the company had 85.5 million streaming households.

This update comes after free ad-supported streaming platform Tubi, a competitor of the Roku Channel, released monthly active user numbers Monday, reporting 97 million monthly active users. Samsung’s FAST service, TV Samsung Plus, announced 88 million monthly active users as of the end of October.

Pluto, another leading competitor in the FAST space, owned by Paramount, has not released user numbers since May 2023, when the platform said it had 80 million monthly active users.

“Roku’s extensive scale sets us apart in the streaming industry, with more engagement than any other TV OS platform in the U.S.,” said Anthony Wood, Founder and CEO, Roku. “Thanks to our laser focus on simplifying and enhancing the streamer’s journey, Roku is the preferred choice for millions of viewers. I’m grateful to our customers, partners, advertisers, and employees for helping us reach this notable milestone.”

Roku had previously said it would focus more on platform revenue and profitability, rather than the number of streaming households. But the company said it planned to announce key milestones, such as reaching 100 million streaming households.
