Prince William attended the fourth Earthshot Prize Awards in Cape Town on Wednesday but some royal fans were not impressed with his sartorial choice for the glittering event.
The Prince of Wales dubbed the environmental awards a "movement for change" and called on the world to join in his bid to save the planets.
In line with the sustainable fashion ethos guests were asked to follow, William donned a second-hand double-breasted Prince of Wales check jacket, from a London Vintage store, a light blue shirt and dark trousers.
He also wore white sustainable trainers from Purified Footwear - a brand which produces plastic-free, biodegradable footwear.
But some royal fans did not approve of the fact the prince opted for a casual outfit for the glittering awards ceremony and took to social media to express their views.

In previous years, the heir to the throne had spotted formal suits for the occasion.
One user wrote on X: "I’m sorry but WHAT did William wear tonight [crying face emoji]."
A second one agreed: "Like what is he doing? [crying face emoji]"
Another one commented: "I like William’s outfit; I think it’s cool and different, but not quite right for the event. His velvet suit would have been better."

A fourth one opined: "Yeah I agree, it looks good but it’s absolutely not the vibe for a black-tie award gala. He’s in white sneakers??? And an Edward-style daytime blazer? Catherine we need you here to do something about this!"
A fifth one said: "More of this for his day-to-day engagements would be perfect! For this event though it doesn't make sense, not that it's a huge problem."
A sixth one wrote: "I thought the same, especially as everyone else was dressed up. Love the outfit. Better suited for the daytime though!"
