RuPaul Drag Race fans have called out the show's creator and host RuPaul over an Instagram post shared just days after the death of season one winner The Vivienne

The criticism comes after a social media post following The Vivienne's tragic passing. The Vivienne, born James Lee Williams, was confirmed dead at 32 over the weekend, sparking an outpouring of tributes for the drag icon.
RuPaul expressed sorrow, stating: "With a broken heart, I join the entire Drag Race universe in mourning the loss of the Vivienne - an incredibly talented queen and a lovely human being."
However, mere hours after this homage, RuPaul uploaded another Instagram post donning a red wig and lip-syncing to a voiceover. The audio played: "[Name] claims you actually tried to run her over in her car. Is that true?" with a woman responding: "Yeah," followed by the initial speaker asking: "You did?"
Without adding any commentary to the post, some fans lashed out, calling it tactless in light of The Vivienne's death.
One follower posted: "Mama read the room." Another chimed in: "ONLY 1 DAY WAS GIVEN TO THE VIVIENNE?!" while third shared: "I thought the same... LOVE Ru but I thought this...." reports the Mirror.
Another remarked: "Thank u I thought the same..this isn't the time for this Ru." One more fan criticized: "You don't seem too upset about The Vivienne?? What a let down, I'm disappointed!!
Someone else questioned: "Why are we getting this mess and not a proper heart felt statement about the Vivienne."
While some fans were quick to criticise RuPaul for not immediately addressing The Vivienne's passing, but others jumped to the drag superstar's defence. One fan pointed out: "Scheduled content just posts, and she posted about The Vivienne so calm t f down."
Another chimed in with support, saying: "What else was supposed to be done? Why do yall expect people to go on a whole week long post-a-thon? Stop projecting your expectations on others."
The tragic news of The Vivienne's death was confirmed on Sunday by publicist and friend Simon Jones.
The heartfelt statement shared: "It is with immense sadness that we let you know our beloved James Lee Williams - The Vivienne, has passed this weekend. James was an incredibly loved, warm-hearted and amazing person. Their family are heartbroken at the loss of their son, brother and uncle."
