A standard sized Purple Harmony retails at $199 which is $34 more than a queen Saatva. A king is priced at $239 which is again $54 more than a Saatva of the same size. Similar to Saatva, Purple is not known for frequent discounts but their current ‘Buy 2, get 10%’ has been available for an extended period of time now.

The brand also offers a 100 night trial with free returns which is definitely more than the standard 30-45 days for bedding products. You can also enjoy free shipping and a 1-year warranty for a Purple Harmony pillow.

The Saatva is available for purchase on their official website, Amazon and eBay while Purple Harmony can be bought directly from the brand or from retailers like Amazon and Mattress Firm.

Saatva Latex Pillow vs Purple Harmony: Design

  •  Saatva comes in two sizes and two loft options
  •  Purple Harmony offers three loft options in two sizes
  •  Neither pillow requires any time to fully expand

Unlike pillow comparisons where one has an upper hand over the other in terms of design, Saatva and Purple are not only made from similar materials but also have much the same features too. Both have adjustable loft making these suitable for all sleeping positions.

The Saatva Latex is made from a shredded latex core surrounded by microdenier fiber and comes encased in an organic cotton cover with gusseted sides to help the pillow maintain its shape. It does not have an adjustable fill (where you can add or remove the pillow fill), but rather comes in two loft variants: 5 inches (recommended for back and stomach sleepers) and 6-7 inches (ideal for side or combination sleepers).

The outer cover and fiber layer is machine washable while the latex core is not. The brand also claims that the Saatva Latex is hypoallergenic and can even be used by those who struggle with latex allergies as it’s stripped of all allergy causing proteins. Our reviewer for the Saatva Latex Pillow review, who is usually prone to latex allergies, also found this to be true.

The Purple Harmony stands out with the brand’s signature Honeycomb Gelflex grid which is designed to draw away heat and provide you with contouring pressure relief. The inner core is made from breathable and cooling Talalay latex which comes in a stretchy moisture wicking knit cover. However, it's important to note that in our Purple Harmony Pillow review, the testing panel found despite the cooling features they still slept hot while using it.

The loft options for a queen and a king sized Purple Harmony are: 5.5" low (for stomach and back sleepers), 6.5" medium (for side and combination sleepers) and 7.5" tall (side or combination sleepers with large to extra-large frames).

All materials used in a Purple Harmony pillow are CleanAir Gold certified to be hypoallergenic and non-toxic.

Saatva Latex Pillow vs Purple Harmony: Comfort and support

  •  Saatva has been tested to be most suitable for hot sleepers
  •  Purple’s gel-like grid hex provides that extra ‘give’ or bounce
  •  Our reviewer gave a 5/5 for Saatva in every performance category

The Saatva has performed exceptionally well according to our in-house reviewer in terms of performance, support and comfort. It was found to be providing both the bouncy but firm support of the latex core and the cushioning of the microdenier fiber covering it.

Being a combination sleeper, our reviewer reported that the pillow delivered a perfect head and neck alignment all night even while tossing and turning to change positions.

Moreover, Saatva is designed to benefit hot sleepers with the breathable latex core dissipating heat and the organic cotton cover wicking away any moisture. With its top-rated support and temperature regulation properties, we are convinced that it will suit almost all sleepers. See how the Saatva Latex compared to the Casper Snow Hybrid, a pillow designed with advanced cooling technology.

Our side-sleeping reviewer found the Purple Harmony to be “jiggly yet firm” with the bounce attributed to the Purple Grid Hex. The standard-sized medium pillow was reportedly softer than her usual preference. The pillow does not require any fluffing and largely retains its shape.

Despite being made from a combination of cooling materials like the gel grid with 2000 channels promoting airflow, a moisture-wicking mesh cover and the ventilated latex core, our reviewer slept warm most nights.

While it is not technically a cooling pillow as such, the elements which are intended to cater to hot sleepers do not perform well enough to keep you refreshed all night. It also has just one firmness level whereas Saatva ranges from medium-firm to firm depending on the variant you choose.

Comparing the ratings given by our expert testers, the Saatva wins with an overall 5 stars while Purple falls behind with a solid 4. Temperature regulation and varying firmness levels definitely gives Saatva the edge.
