Sam Thompson and Zara McDermott have called it quits after a five-year romance, according to recent reports.
During their relationship, they not only created a home together, right beside the house of Sam's sister Louise and her fiance Ryan Libbey but also became parents to two beloved cats, Albus and Cedric.
The split news follows the couple's separate celebrations over the festive period. I'm A Celebrity champion Sam, 32, welcomed the new year at Kensington Roof Gardens, surrounded by ex-Made in Chelsea stars Reza Amiri-Garroussi and Josh Patterson.
Zara, on the other hand, chose to stay in with the kitties. Just the week before, while Sam was out delivering gifts and volunteering for charity on Christmas Day, Zara celebrated with her family in Upminster, Essex, reports the Mirror.
Distance may also have played a role, as Sam was down under working on the I'm A Celebrity spin-off show Unpacked, and Zara could not join due to her work filming a BBC documentary.
A source divulged to MailOnline: "Sam and Zara have ended their relationship. It's been an incredibly difficult decision for them to part ways, they still care and have a lot of love for each other.", reports the Mirror.
The source revealed the couple had put effort into their relationship, but the separation made things tough. Now, both are looking to focus on their own professional paths.
The Mirror is seeking comments from the couple's representatives.
Neither Sam nor Zara have commented on the speculation, but the ex-Made in Chelsea personality Sam took to his Instagram Stories during a morning stroll to express his enthusiasm for the upcoming year. "New year! 2025 baby come on let's have it! I can't wait. The New year is going to be amazing and you're going to have the best year ever. And you know I'm always right," Sam declared before seemingly planting a kiss on his camera.
This follows summer whispers of a potential rift between Sam and Zara, with claims of a significant dispute that allegedly led to Zara temporarily moving out of their London pad to her family's residence.
Back in June, an image surfaced showing Zara seemingly berating Sam in public after he played for England at Soccer Aid 2024. Captured images of the couple's intense exchange showed an animated Zara gesturing with her finger towards Sam after the celebrity-filled afterparty.

They seemed deeply engrossed in conversation, continuing their lively discussion as they awaited their taxi.
Zara cleared the air over the so-called 'argument' amid whispers of strife in their relationship, taking to social media with a touch of humour. She captioned the picture, "Why did this make me laugh so much btw," following up with a light-hearted explanation and support: "'Stop saying you should have scored! ! ! ! You did your best and that's all that matters! ! ! ! You need to stop doubting yourself! ! ! It looks like we are having an argument but I'm actually telling him positive affirmations in a very passionate manner! [laughing-face emojis]."
