Users generally don’t feel spoiled for choice when it comes to smartphone variants, and that’s even more the case with the Galaxy S25 series. The Galaxy S25 series only comes in one RAM option — 12GB.
Generally speaking, the more that smartphones are capable of, the more RAM is needed to accomplish certain tasks. This is especially the case as AI becomes completely standard on phones like the Galaxy S series.
During the Unpacked event, Samsung released three devices — the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra. Each of these devices comes with a standard 12GB of RAM with multiple storage options available. That’s normal for the more affordable Galaxy S25 and S25+, but the Galaxy S25 Ultra is missing a secondary RAM option for those who want more power. For some reason, Samsung has found it fit to omit the 16GB option from the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
It was never confirmed that the Galaxy S25 Ultra would get a 16GB variant, though that number would be the natural progression from the 12GB we saw in the Galaxy S24. At 12GB across the board, the Galaxy S25 is the only phone seeing an actual upgrade in performance, up from 8GB. For the Galaxy S25+ and S25 Ultra, the RAM amount offered this year is the same as with the previous one.
It’s too early to tell whether there’ll be a performance substantial performance change between generations with the amount of AI Samsung is loading onto each device with One UI 7. It’s also unclear whether Samsung is leaning into VRAM as a supplementary resource for the devices, though it seems unlikely at this time as it wasn’t mentioned.
The Galaxy S25 starts at $799 in the US, while the S25+ and S25 Ultra will start at $999 and $1299, respectively. These prices are unchanged from last year and each is available for pre-order now.
