Samsung may copy Pixel’s ‘Audio Eraser’ feature as next One UI 7 update approaches

After months of waiting, Samsung finally released the first preview of its Android 15 update, One UI 7, last week for the Galaxy S24. A second update to Samsung’s One UI 7 is already on its way, and it may bring along a copy of Google Pixel’s “Audio Eraser” feature along with it.

The first One UI 7 beta release on the Galaxy S24 was long-awaited, and was also surprisingly solid right out of the gate, delivering welcome UI tweaks and features alongside a lot of system improvements. But it was also just the first in a long line of updates that will arrive in the coming weeks ahead of Samsung’s official One UI 7 release in 2025. That includes further beta releases and expansions to new devices.

Apparently, the second beta release is coming as soon as this week, as Tarun Vats cites sources claiming a release as soon as December 12. It was supposedly possible it would come today, but that’s obviously not the case at this point.

What’s coming in this new update? Details are unclear, but there is one new feature on the horizon. An “Audio Eraser” editing feature was spotted with the ability to clean up and isolate audio in a video through Samsung’s Gallery app.

Google launched a feature of the same name on the Pixel 8. The exact timing of the feature’s release, though, isn’t entirely clear. As SammyGuru points out, Samsung is also rumored to be working on an “Object Eraser” feature for video that’s expected in One UI 7.1, and it would make sense for the two to arrive side-by-side.
