Pamela Anderson has revealed that she was once "almost killed" while travelling on a plane by an angry man who mistook her for someone else, which left her terrified to fly ever again
Pamela Anderson was "almost killed".
The Baywatch beauty has opened up about a terrifying incident on a plane when she was mistaken for a member of the 1960s girl group, The Dixie Chicks. The 57 year old icon spoke on the Happy Sad Confused podcast and revealed that an angry passenger "tried to attack" her, mistaking her for one of the band members.
She recounted the horrifying moment: "This one time, I was on a flight and this guy came up to me and said, 'Do you know what this country's done for you? ' And I was like, 'Oh, my God. What have I done?' And then I looked back at him and he'd [growl at me]."
Anderson revealed that the situation escalated to the point where "this stewardess had to handcuff him to the chair because he was trying to attack her". She explained: "It ended up, he thought I was a Dixie Chick. Remember that whole Dixie Chick thing? I almost got killed on a plane!"
The former 'Baywatch' star confessed that the ordeal made her "slightly scared" to fly again, as she described the man scowling menacingly at her: "When you look back and he's like [scowling] at you. That was minor [though]! I was scared to fly after that!"
While Anderson didn't specify the timing of the event, it's noted that The Dixie Chicks faced severe criticism after band member Natalie Maines spoke out against then-President George W. Bush and the Iraq invasion at a 2003 concert in London, reports the Mirror.
Years later, the 'Goodbye Earle' singer expressed a change of heart, saying she "didn't feel that way anymore", yet insisted that Bush wasn't "owed any respect" at all. Elsewhere, Pamela's son Brandon Thomas Lee has said that it's taken his iconic mum "years" to smash her typecast Hollywood image.
Brandon claims he played fairy godmother to Pamela, helping her snag the part of Shelly in the flick "The 'Last Showgirl'. He told Variety that Pammy's old agent wouldn't even let her peek at the script, but she was keen on it from the get-go.
"The reason I got involved, other than for various business reasons - my personal mission was to give my mom the opportunities she gave me as a child. She would do anything for me, she showed up and was a very good mother and at a certain point in your life, you become a protector."
