Sean Lock on whether Gregg Wallace should be a national treasure

Late comedian Sean Lock 'warned' the public about Gregg Wallace four years ago, in a scathing resurfaced clip of him on 8 Out of 10 Cats.

Beloved comic Sean tragically passed away at the age of 51 in 2021, after being diagnosed with cancer. But prior to his death, the panel show favourite spoke about Gregg Wallace on an episode of 8 Out Of 10 Cats, which has resurfaced amid the MasterChef host's BBC probe into inappropriate behaviour.

Wallace, 60, has been accused by celebrities including Ulrika Jonsson, Gogglebox vicar Kate Bottley, and even Sir Rod Stewart. The 79-year-old crooner has claimed his wife, Penny Lancaster, was "humiliated" by presenter Wallace, with the singer sensationally posting about him on his Instagram Story.

Sean Lock's brutal takedown of Wallace came about as he was doing a skit about 'national treasures', where he was deciding who could and couldn't get the title. The first to be stamped with a 'no' was Ed Sheeran, then Ant McPartlin.

The third photo he pulled out was one of Gregg Wallace. Sean held it up, saying: "Now this guy - Gregg Wallace. He came close because I like him, because he wears a hair net, even though he’s bald."

He joked about his hair nets, before continuing: "No, I like him because he’s got no sense of irony or humour. But," then he abruptly adds: "I’ve met him." He goes on to aggressively stamp a huge 'NO' on Gregg's face, before quipping: "No Gregg. He tried to put his spoon in my pudding."

It's emerging that Gregg had got under the skin of numerous celebrities with his 'jokes', with Kirsty Wark one of 13 who claim he made inappropriate sexual comments. Even his MasterChef co-host John Torode claimed to have "never been friends" with his colleague of 19 years.

In 2017, the Sunday Mirror revealed that even when the pair are working away in far-flung locations, they keep their distance from one another. Speaking at the time, the now 59-year-old chef said: "We’ve never been friends." Torode, from Melbourne, Australia. He added: "It’s funny, we’ve never been friends. We’ve not been to each other’s houses… He’s so OCD, he wouldn’t know what to do. He’d build it up in his mind for three days, and probably make himself quite sick, then he’d have an argument with his wife and not turn up. If I went to his house, he would feel like he wasn’t in control."
