Sean Wilson has shared how he was supported by his fellow soap stars while he battled a historical sex claim.
The Coronation Street actor, 59, who is best known for playing Martin Platt in the soap from 1985 to 2005 before briefly returning in 2018, was due to return to the cobbles and was filming scenes earlier this year. However his return was ruined when an unfounded historical sex complaint emerged alleged to have happened in 1997.
The actor recently learned that police would take no further action but the father-of-two has revealed social media users likened him to infamous sex offenders - leaving him worried about going out in public.
Sean was axed earlier this year after filming scenes with co-star Helen Worth. At the time, he took to Twitter /X to share a heartfelt message about his exit. The post, which was shared in September, read: "Thanks for all the love xxx", which was accompanied by a large light display that read "LOVE".

ITV)After leaving the soap, Sean said the unfounded allegation cost him his Coronation Street contract and that he also spent thousands of pounds on lawyers. He revealed that his "whole world was blown apart" because of the sex claim.
The actor said he was "relieved beyond belief" when, on November 21 police, said there would be no further action. “When I got that call that was the first time I cried in four months. I just let out all the pent-up emotions," he said.
Sean said he had not yet been able to tell his son Callum, 26, and daughter Maisie, 24, about what happened but was planning to explain. He said: “How do you tell your children that you’ve been wrongly accused of this? But they’ll have to be okay about it won’t they? Because their dad’s innocent.”

ITV)Now, Sean has revealed how his co-star Helen helped him through the difficult time. The actor revealed that Helen told him he had nothing to be sorry for when the allegations were made against him. Sean was also supported by fellow Coronation Street star Sally Dynevor, 61, who plays Sally Metcalfe on the cobbles.
Speaking to The Sun, the actor said: "One of the first things I did when I found myself in a position of more coherence, I decided that I’d text Helen. We both said we couldn’t see this coming from a million miles away, so she said, ‘I’m very sorry, this is the situation and forget everything.’ I apologised to her too. She said, ‘Don’t even apologise to me, you’ve had a lot to go through.’
“I’ve heard lots from Sally too. There have been lots of people - and fans too," the actor added. Sean was cleared of any wrongdoing, but Coronation Street bosses had to move on with storylines and his character, Martin, and his return was cut out and John Thomson returned in his role of Jesse Chadwick instead.
