Jamal “Shyne” Barrow claims that he once attempted to spit in Sean “Diddy” Combs’ face after being convicted as the “fall guy” in the infamous 1999 Club New York shooting.

During an appearance on The Breakfast Club to promote his new Hulu documentary, The Honorable Shyne, Barrow detailed the extent of his dealings with Combs during and after his 10-year incarceration.

According to the rapper, he tried to spit in Combs’ face as a show of disrespect when the rap mogul visited him in prison while serving his sentence. “He came to see me once, and I tried to spit in his face,” the former artist began. “I didn’t even know he was coming to see me. They just brought me down in the lawyer’s office.”

Shyne also alleges that it was years after his release from prison when Combs contacted him in an attempt to mend their relationship.

However, he says that his former CEO’s show of appreciation for his alleged vow of silence was underwhelming and not equivalent to the years of freedom he sacrificed at his behest. “I got out in 2009. There wasn’t an attempt at reconciliation until 2012, when I went to Paris to meet him,” he said of Combs.

“I was still in a place of, he owes me his life. He’s a billionaire. If it wasn’t for me, he wouldn’t have been a billionaire. If I would have cooperated with the district attorney, he’d have went to jail, and heaven knows what would have happened to his career. So that’s worth at least a couple million dollars out of the billion that you’re worth.”

Yet, the Belizean politician remembers Combs only giving him $50,000 upon meeting, which would roughly amount to $5,000 for every year Shyne spent behind bars. “He probably gave me like 50 racks [$50,000], and I’m like, ‘You can’t be serious.’ That’s 10 years… Fifty racks?” Shyne asked incredulously, emphasizing the disparity in value.

The rapper’s appearance on The Breakfast Club isn’t the first time that Shyne has spoken ill of Combs in the wake of the Bad Boy Entertainment founder’s arrest and indictment on federal sex trafficking charges earlier this year.

In The Honorable Shyne trailer, Barrow deemed himself as “the fall guy” in the Club New York shooting, insinuating that it was actually Combs who was the gunman in the incident, not himself.

That assertion has been blasted by Combs through his attorneys, who argue that Shyne’s recollection of being “set up” as the scapegoat in the Club New York shooting are false and hold no validity

“Mr. Combs categorically denies Mr. Barrow’s [Shyne’s] allegations, including any suggestion that he orchestrated Mr. Barrow to ‘take the fall’ or ‘sacrificed’ him by directing witnesses to testify against him,” Diddy’s lawyers wrote in a statement.

“These claims are unequivocally false. Mr. Combs was acquitted of all charges related to the 1999 Club New York incident and has consistently maintained his innocence. He cannot accept or condone any characterization of his actions as ‘demonic’ or ‘malicious.'”

“Mr. Combs appreciates the path Mr. Barrow has pursued and wishes him continued success,” Diddy’s statement about the Shyne allegations continued. “It is unfortunate that Mr. Barrow has chosen to revisit these allegations. Mr. Combs trusts that responsible journalism will weigh both the established legal outcomes and Mr. Combs’ positive, longstanding support for those he has worked with.”
