Porsha Williams Shares That She Plans To Have Two Weddings With Simon Guobadia

Former Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams’ estranged husband, Simon Guobadia, has been detained by ICE following the latest denial of his citizenship application. The news comes less than a year after Williams filed for divorce, shortly after Guobadia’s criminal past and immigration history were revealed.

Detainment Confirmed

Us Weekly confirmed that Guobadia is currently being held at Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Georgia. According to U.S. Department of Homeland Security records, Guobadia’s current status is listed as “in ICE custody.”

The detainment follows President Donald Trump’s recent mass deportation order, which enables the removal of illegal immigrants who have been living in the U.S. without proper documentation.

A History of Legal Troubles and Immigration Issues

Guobadia’s struggles with U.S. immigration date back to 1982, when he first entered the country on a visa that he later overstayed. According to court records, he was declared deportable in 1985 but reentered the U.S. in 1986 on a work visa—only to overstay it once again.

His legal troubles escalated in 1987, when he was arrested and pleaded guilty to bank and credit card fraud. Over the years, he was arrested two more times. In 1992, Guobadia was deported and physically removed from the country. However, he managed to return to the U.S. under an undisclosed identity, which later enabled him to gain permanent residency.

Denied Citizenship and Appeals

In 2016, Guobadia applied for naturalization but was denied due to his past fraudulent immigration status. Since then, he has filed multiple appeals and complaints in an effort to secure citizenship, but all of them have been rejected.

His most recent application for citizenship was denied last month, leading to his detainment over the weekend.

Porsha Williams Speaks Out

Following the viral news of Guobadia’s arrest, Porsha Williams took to social media to address the situation. While she has not shared extensive details, her response suggests that she is shocked but focused on moving forward.

As the situation unfolds, Guobadia’s legal team is expected to file additional motions in an attempt to prevent deportation. However, given his long history of immigration issues, experts believe his chances of remaining in the U.S. are slim.
