Vannessa Cross has totally transformed her body and life since she first appeared on 1000-Lb Best Friends. The reality star is back for season 3 and although she’s made strides with her weight loss, her friendships appear to be falling apart. As fans get up to speed with Vannessa’s life, she reveals she had so much excess skin, that she named a part of her body ‘Betsy Mae’.

TLC‘s 1000-Lb Best Friends may be less well-known compared to the network’s 1000-Lb Sisters. But, the stars of both reality TV shows have made incredible shifts in their bodies and lives over the past few years. As Tammy Slaton debuts her new physique, Vannessa Cross also shows off how she’s lost almost 300 lbs.

1000-Lb Best Friends’ Vannessa is ‘different’

Vannessa lets the cameras back in on her life during the all-new 1000-Lb Best Friends episodes.

Speaking on the show during season 3, she explains how she’s not only “physically different,” but “mentally,” too.

She says she “reaches monumental goals every day,” since losing hundreds of pounds.

The days of “diapers” and “bedside toilets” are out the window for Vannessa.

Now, she enjoys fitness, walking, and taking care of herself, and eating better. These days, she loves smoothies and puts a lot of her incredible weight loss results down to drinking them.

She explains: “My confidence is getting stronger,” but the TV star adds how she has a certain hang-up about her body that’s still making her feel “self-conscious.”

Keeping it “100” with viewers, Vannessa explains there’s one aspect of her body that is making her “feel like an old woman.”

Since losing weight, she explains she feels “way more self-conscious” about “all her skin,” and “all her flabs,” as well as “Ms Betsy Mae.”

The TLC star explains: “Really, I only named Betsy Mae… I guess that’s kind of sad that the only roll that got named was her… but she is predominant… everything, the way it looks, it’s not sexy, it’s not cute.”

Vannessa is “hoping, and hoping, and hoping” to get approved for skin removal surgery on the show.

She tells the cameras she’s “been maintaining her weight.”

Since filming the show, Vannessa has been approved for the surgery and opted to have ‘Betsy Mae’ removed.

Speaking to Today, she explained how she “cried” when she woke up from surgery.

Vannessa recalls the “emotional” experience and says she’s still adjusting to life in her current body.
