Sir Rod Stewart has just celebrated his 80th birthday and marked the occasion in a big way.
The rock singer was in the party mood for the milestone age. This is the guy behind the hits Da Ya Think I’m Sexy? and Maggie May so rather than just booking the local social club, he flew all his family out to the Caribbean for the celebration. Oh to be a Stewart.
The clan, which included wife Penny Lancaster and seven of his eight children, spent time on a super yacht stopping off in St Barts and Antigua.
His 19-year-old son Alistair gave his fans an insight into what they got up to with a post on Instagram.
The chosen pictures included group shots of the family in a luxurious looking bar. Clearly in a jovial spirit, in one snap they pulled funny faces and in another, they were smiling while huddled on a street.
‘An unforgettable time, love you all,’ wrote the teenager. His mum Penny, 53, agreed, writing: ‘Best night out.’
Rod is a father of eight children by five different women, with his kids aged from 61 to 13.
His kids are daughters Sarah Streeter, 61, Kimberly, 45, Ruby, 37, and Renee, 32, and sons Sean, 44, and Liam, 30, as well as Alastair and 13-year-old Aiden. Sarah is the only child who appeared to not be on the trip. Many of the partners have also joined in the fun.
Sir Rod also has three grandchildren – Delilah, 12, and one-year-olds Otis and Louie.
On his special day – January 10 – Rod shared a special post to express gratitude for well-wishers and his journey so far.
‘Thank you all for the wonderful birthday wishes – 80 years young! 🥂,’ it began.
‘What an incredible journey it’s been – from unforgettable moments on and off the stage to earning some truly special honors along the way. But above all, my greatest joy has always been performing for you. Cheers to the memories we’ve made and the ones still to come!’
Penny couldn’t let the occasion pass without making a fuss of her beloved.
‘Happy birthday my darling ❤️ so blessed to be sharing this day together with all our kids. Building more memories to carry with us into the future and to be held close to our hearts forever, I love you xx,’ she wrote on Instagram.
They certainly were in the right place to make the best memories with the Mail reporting that their boat had nine suites, a beauty salon, a gym, a swimming pool and a helipad.
‘This trip meant so much to Rod,’ a source told the publication. ‘The whole family has come together and put any drama aside to really have a bonding experience.
‘Being surrounded by so much love is invaluable to Rod. He wanted to do it up big for this one.
‘He could not have gone bigger.’
They are said to have been hopping across Carribean locations, while being looked after by three chefs.
‘The holiday is costing Rod millions,’ another source summarised.
