Sister Wives star Meri Brown is back in the dating game following her failed romance with Amos Andrews. She’s taking lessons she learned in that relationship as part of her new dating strategy.
“Right now, I’m dating, not exclusively,” Meri, 53, told People in an interview published on Thursday, December 26. “But you date non-exclusively, and then you’re like, ‘OK, I can focus on this person. Let’s be exclusive.’ And then, see if it works into something.”
The TLC star reflected on her romance with Amos, 56, which began in October 2023 and ended in February.
“He just wasn’t my person. We dated exclusively for a few months, and he just wasn’t my person. And so, we broke that off,” she explained.
Meri moved to the small town of Parowan, Utah, from Flagstaff, Arizona, after splitting from Kody Brown after 30 years of their plural marriage in December 2022.
The entrepreneur told the outlet that she’s been using dating sites to find new love interests, although she has “met a couple of people through people,” which is how Meri prefers to find new dates. However, she noted, “But when you live in a small town, and then this day and age, it seems to be the thing is the dating sites.”
Meri is using her time not being in a relationship to do some self-reflection. “I’m learning about myself. I’m learning about other people,” she explained to the publication.
“I am learning to trust myself and be like, ‘Hmm, I’m getting a funny vibe. This person’s just not for me,'” she added. “Even if it’s just not a funny vibe, nothing’s wrong with a person. It’s just not for me.”
Meri spent Christmas with her beloved rescue dog, Zona, telling fans in a Wednesday, December 25, Instagram video, “Zona and I wanted to say Merry Christmas to you, to all of your family and your friends and I hope you have an absolutely beautiful week.”
Numerous fans gushed in the comments over how “happy and healthy” Meri looked. One person joked about her past relationships with Kody, 55, and Amos, writing about Zona, “Now that’s a dog I can support you being in a relationship with! (Did I say that out loud?).”
Meri went public with her romance with Amos in a January 17 Instagram post showing a photo of the then-couple.
“Birthday #53 is looking a bit different for me this year, and might I say, I like how it looks! Meet Amos, the good-looking guy I’ve been dating since October!” she wrote in the caption.
She continued, “He’s not 6 foot 6, nor is he a pilot, but he loves Christmas almost as much as I do, and we laugh a lot together, both of which are important elements to a relationship! Also, Zona absolutely loves him.”
After her announcement, In Touch exclusively revealed that Amos had been married four times, with his most recent divorce happening in 2021. He also filed for bankruptcy in 2000.
On February 24, Meri revealed she split from Amos after making the “hard decision” to end things.
“Last week, I had to face some hard truths and have some difficult conversations,” Meri wrote in a lengthy Instagram post. “Just because I care a lot about someone, and him me, does not equate to full compatibility for a long-term relationship. When we have different dreams and aspirations, different communication styles and values, different visions for our futures, and these things aren’t aligning, it’s then that we need to make hard decisions.”
She added, “It’s a strange and sad thing to care about someone so deeply, to look beyond their past, because heaven knows we all have one, to see the kindness in their eyes and their giving heart, and still know that a life long relationship isn’t in the cards for you.”
