‘Sister Wives’ Star Kody Brown Shows Off His Haircare Routine and Admits It’s ‘a Lot of Work’

Sister Wives star Kody Brown doesn’t just roll out of bed with those perfect blonde ringlets. The reality star recently revealed that his haircare routine isn’t so simple.

Kody, 55, and his brothers Scott Brown and Michael Brown, went on what they referred to as a “man trip” in the December 1 episode of Sister Wives. Sam and Michael were teasing Kody for taking so long to get ready. The two joked that he was “probably doing his hair” before Kody appeared wearing a hairnet.

“Everybody always wants to give me crap about my hair, but I have to do a lot of work to take care of this hair,” Kody joked before whipping off his hairnet.

He continued during a confessional, “Listen, if I don’t dry it right, the curls don’t happen.”

Scott, Kody’s oldest brother, explained that “even when Kody was a pre-teen, his hair has always been important to him.”

The dad of 18 gave fans a play-by-play of what exactly goes into his haircare routine.

“The grayer I get – it’s all colored, you know, I just need it to be pretty,” Kody said. “Then the hairnet helps the curls, you know, if I don’t want to spend the entire time blow drying. It’s a little cheesy, but it works.”

Kody and his brothers spent their “man trip” in Las Vegas, but the Sister Wives star clarified that this wouldn’t be anything similar to The Hangover.

“I’m on my way to Las Vegas to meet my brothers,” Kody told the cameras. “Basically, it’s a Christmas present that we sort of give each other. It’s kind of like a man trip, I guess. We won’t be doing any debauchery. We won’t be gambling. Like, the naughtiest thing we’re going to do is probably swear a lot.”

Kody added that he felt “sad leaving Robyn [Brown] and the kids,” but he was “going to really enjoy the man trip.”

Robyn, 46, was happy that Kody took the time to go on the trip, which used to be a regular occurrence.

“They used to do it a lot more in Vegas and then stopped for a while,” the mom of five said during a confessional. “I’m glad he’s going because I know that this will be healing for him.”

Kody’s hair has been a topic of conversation for years on the long-running TLC reality show. The network even put together a montage of clips of Kody, along with wife Robyn and ex-wives Christine Brown, Meri Brown, and Janelle Brown, talking about his blonde tresses.

In the “Ode to Kody’s Hair” video, Robyn joked that Kody’s hair was the “fifth wife” in their family while Kody said that it was “a fun character on the show.” During the early seasons, the Brown patriarch seemingly straightened his hair, but over the years, he’s accepted his natural curls. Clips from previous seasons of the show included in the clip featured Kody running his hands through his hair while Meri, 53, sat beside him, as well as him flipping his hair around on the dance floor.
