Snoop Dogg and Rick Ross attended the inaugural Crypto Ball on Friday night (Jan. 17) in Washington D.C. The event, which celebrated the upcoming inauguration of Donald Trump, was hosted by David Bailey, BTC Inc. and its co-hosts Stand with Crypto, Anchorage Digital, Exodus and Kraken.
Reports indicate those in attendance were crypto heavyweights Michael Saylor, Brian Armstrong, the Winklevoss brothers, and Jesse Powell. Notably Trump's crypto czar pick, David Sacks, was there as well.
Pictures and clips showed Snoop Dogg deejaying at the Crypto Ball in Washington D.C. The event was held for members of the crypto industry celebrating Trump’s return to office, with red "Make Bitcoin Great Again" hats making its rounds among guests.
Rick Ross, who later denied that he'd be performing on Inauguration Day, was also at the Crypto Ball. "Nah, chill, I'm not performing," Ross said in the video below. "I am in Washington D.C. right now, but I'm not performing. It's a private vibe I'm doing with my brother Snoop Dogg."
Rick Ross also took to the stage on Friday night.
Soulja Boy was also in attendance and performed to the delight of guests.
Snoop's appearance at the event angered some fans who took to the comments section to blast the rapper when he posted to Instagram on Saturday morning (Jan. 18).
Fans of the rapper were stunned about Snoop being present for a Trump-associated event after he was previously a Trump critic, even "shooting" a clown dressed as the president-elect in the 2017 "Ronald Klump" video.
"Can you imagine what the outcry would be if @SnoopDogg, failing career and all, had aimed and fired the gun at President Obama? Jail time!" Trump said in a Twitter post condemning Snoop at the time.
But despite his years of denouncing Trump, last January, Snoop shared with London's Sunday Times that he has "nothing but love and respect" for him. "He ain’t done nothing wrong to me. He has done only great things for me. He pardoned Michael Harris," Snoop told the publication, referring to Death Row Records co-founder and former CEO, Michael 'Harry-O' Harris. He was serving 25 years to life at San Quentin Prison for attempted murder and cocaine trafficking.
Three years before, Snoop publicly thanked Trump for pardoning Harris.
Rick Ross also was previously critical of Trump in the past.
“Assassinate Trump like I’m Zimmerman/Now accept these words as they came from Eminem/Democratic party sentenced to the pendulum/Killing them, I voted for Andre Benjamin,” Ross rapped on the 2016 track “Free Enterprise” featuring John Legend.
Lastly, Soulja Boy has been critical of Trump too, calling out Kanye West for wearing the MAGA hat at the time.
The soon-to-be 47th and second-time president will be sworn in on Monday (Jan. 20), the date also observing Martin Luther King Jr. Day. But famous names will also be at the U.S. Capitol that day, and among those slated to perform for the occasion are Nelly, Village People, Kid Rock in addition to country acts Carrie Underwood (singing "America the Beautiful"), Billy Ray Cyrus, Rascal Flatts and more.
According to NBC News, Kodak Black, Rod Wave, Antonio Brown, Fivio Foreign and Anuel AA are also on the guest list for inaugural events.
