Uh-oh! What’s going on??
On Monday morning, tons of feds showed up at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn — you know, the same jail where Diddy is currently locked up — for an “interagency operation.” Whoa. Sounds intense!!
According to a Bureau of Prisons statement shared with the Associated Press, investigators from the BOP, the Justice Department’s Inspector General’s office, and other federal law enforcement agencies arrived at the facility for a mystery operation. All the statement claimed is that the push is “designed to achieve our shared goal of maintaining a safe environment for both our employees and the incarcerated individuals housed at MDC Brooklyn.”

That said, prison officials refused to give additional details about the op. In a statement, the Bureau simply said it was a pre-planned operation and there is “no active threat” on the premises. Well, that’s good! More specific information about the situation will not be shared publicly until the operation is complete “in an effort to maintain the safety and security of all personnel inside the facility and the integrity of this operation.” Hmm. Seems serious!
As Perezcious readers know, Sean Combs has been held at the jail without bail since he was arrested in September for sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and more. There are currently about 1,200 detainees in the facility — which is down about 400 people since January. Most people housed there are awaiting trial in federal courts in Manhattan or Brooklyn, and some were given short sentences as it is the only federal jail in NYC.
The prison is notorious for alleged violence, poor conditions, staffing shortages, and smuggling of drugs and other contraband, some of which is allegedly facilitated by employees. Jeez. Prisoners have also reportedly complained about frequent lockdowns and being banned from leaving their cells for visits, calls, showers, or exercise.
Just last month, federal prosecutors charged nine inmates in connection with various attacks in the MDC from April to August, including charges related to the stabbing death of two inmates using makeshift weapons and other non-fatal assaults. In a separate case, a correctional officer was also charged with shooting at a car during an unauthorized high-speed chase. Earlier this month, another inmate was also charged in connection with a murder-for-hire plot that led to the death of a 28-year-old woman outside a NYC club in December.
So, there’s been a lot of safety concerns going on at the place. In fact, it’s one reason that Diddy’s been fighting so hard to get let out on bail, thus far to no avail. We suppose it’s good the feds are finally looking into it! Without a doubt, it’ll be inneresting to hear more on this current investigation.
