It's been announced that actor Jill Jacobson has died, aged 70.
Jill is best known for her roles in the Star Trek franchise. Her friend Dan Harary told the Hollywood Reporter that Jill died on December 8 following a long-running health issue. Dan told the outlet: "She will be deeply missed by numerous relatives, friends and her beloved dogs, Benny and Kowalski."
The actor appeared in a number of TV shows over the course of her decades-long career. She notably played Erin Jones on the CBS soap opera Falcon Crest from 1985 to 1987. She later appeared in two Star Trek series as different characters.
Jill first appeared in the science-fiction franchise as Vanessa in Star Trek: The Next Generation in 1989. Seven years later she played Aroya in an episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine in 1996.

Tributes have been paid to Jill this week following the news that she has died. One account on X, formerly known as Twitter, wrote in a post: "Remembering the talented actress Jill Jacobson." Someone else wrote: "The passing of Jill Jacobson is a significant loss to the entertainment industry. Her contributions to both 'Star Trek: The Next Generation' and 'Falcon Crest' are truly memorable."
Whilst one Star Trek fan account said: "RIP - #StarTrek's Jill Jacobson. [...] May she rest in peace."
