Palisades: CBS correspondent reports on wildfires in Los Angeles

Star Wars legend Mark Hamill has given fans a personal update surrounding his safety as he fled his home in California. Since Tuesday, wildfires have been sweeping southern California and forced 30,000 to evacuate their homes.

Taking to social media, the Hollywood actor shared a timeline of events which saw him leave Malibu and head to his daughter's house, confessing that he was "fleeing for his life" from the most "horrific fire" since 1993.

The Pacific Palisades, an affluent area of Los Angeles, has seen a fire spread more than 2,900 acres as firefighters struggle to contain the flames.

More than 30,000 people are under evacuation orders, with images showing residents having abandoned their cars on main roads after getting stuck in traffic jams while fleeding the fire.

Many of Mark's followers have flooded the comments section with warm words as he told everyone to "stay safe." One fan said: "Stay safe and of course the force is with you."

A second person also chimed in: "I hope you’re alright, Mark! And I mean this in all seriousness but may the Force be with you…"

A third typed: "Glad you are safe! Thinking of you guys! Xoxo." A fourth also penned: "I’m glad you and your loved ones are safe!
I hope your house will survive the blaze too."

In similar news, the nominations ceremony for the annual Screen Actors Guild Awards has been postponed after growing wildfires.

SAG shared a statement on Tuesday night: “In an abundance of caution for the safety of our presenters, guests, and staff, the live in-person 31st Annual SAG Awards nominations announcement has been canceled due to the wildfires and adverse wind conditions in Los Angeles."
