The internet has applauded a devoted cat mom for quick thinking when Starbucks ran out of whipped cream, leaving her pet without their favorite treat.
Sam Turba (@mibicket), 27, from North Carolina, shared a video of her black-and-white cat, Miss Biscuit, during a drive-thru visit to Starbucks after a vet appointment to treat an ear infection.
Unfortunately, when she tried to order a pup cup—a small cup of whipped cream often given to pets—the coffee shop had run out. Miss Biscuit's reaction to the disappointment has since garnered 1.1 million views and 25,000 likes on Instagram.
"She was just pitiful feeling after, of course. So I wanted to treat her for being such a good girl to something I knew she loved—a pup cup. I took her to Starbucks and got to the window, and they said they were out of pup cups!" Turba told Newsweek.
"Miss Biscuit had already heard me order it, the poor thing. She knows what 'pup cup' is, but she does not know what 'hey they are out of pup cups' means at all. So she was just meowing pitifully begging for one and I couldn't give her one," Turba added.
In the video, Turba comforted her furry companion by stroking her head.
"I felt so bad as I already had her deal with the vet, and now she has her hopes up for a pup cup she can't receive," she explained.
A pup cup is a small, pet-safe serving of whipped cream that Starbucks offers for free to customers who request it for their animals.
While they shouldn't consume dairy products regularly, small amounts of whipped cream as an occasional treat are generally considered safe for most healthy cats.
Determined to make it up to Miss Biscuit, Turba had a brilliant idea. She went to a Walgreens, bought some whipped cream, and served it to her cat in a cup lid.
"She immediately felt so much better," Turba said. Miss Biscuit licked up the entire treat and appeared visibly more content.
Miss Biscuit's story has charmed social media users, who were touched by Turba's dedication.
"Taking care of your kids is best, especially when they come from the doctor," commented one viewer.
"What a great mom to make sure the pup cup was delivered," wrote @catiobob.
"Nothin' beats a Walgreen's kitty cup made by mom," said another.
"She needs a pup cup RIGHT MEOW," joked a user.
Miss Biscuit's heartwarming story doesn't start in the Starbucks drive-thru, though.
Turba shared that the 5-year-old cat, possibly part munchkin, was once a stray with extreme food anxiety. Found in December 2021 in Starkville, Mississippi, Miss Biscuit weighed 22 pounds and struggled with basic mobility.
Turba initially planned to leave Miss Biscuit outside with a stray cat shelter but couldn't bear to let her fend for herself in the cold.
"She cuddled me like a stuffed animal—unlike any cat I had ever been around," Turba said, describing how quickly they bonded. Miss Biscuit's love for car rides and whipped cream treats soon became part of their routine.
Over time, with a proper diet, Miss Biscuit lost eight pounds and began to thrive. Though her food anxiety still causes her to eat too quickly, causing heat in her ears which can lead to ear infections.
"They have gotten better with weight loss, but still come back as she is still a little chunky," Turba added.
