Draughts not only hurt the bank but have health concerns too (Image: Getty Images)
There could be a draught in your own home and you probably know nothing about it - but one very simple hack will help get rid.
A draught is when an unwanted and often unpleasant current of cool air is blowing through a room or confined space.
But why is this bad? At worst, it can lead to sickness like colds and respiratory infections.
Plus, there is a risk of developing dampness and mould, which has its own health concerns.
It can also hurt your bank balance. Heat is wasted, which means homeowners are using more energy, and paying more money, to keep their homes warm.

The consumer champion posted an informative video on its TikTok channel explaining everything you need to know.
According to the expert, all you need is an allen key, also known as 'hex' keys. Something you often get free when you buy flatpack furniture.
A lot of uPVC windows and doors have easy adjustment features inside the frames that help eliminate the gaps that let in cold air.

Slightly turning the cam pulls the strike plate in which simply means the pulled window will be closed much tighter.
If it needs more force to close, turn it a little the other way to give it slightly more room. And there we go - a draught-free window.
While if your window does not have an allen key cam, it can still be done but the adjustment to the hinges is more fiddly. Make sure to check your manufacturer's instructions before doing anything.
A user commented on the TikTok video: "I keep thinking my bathroom window is open it's that draughty." Another said: "I have just done this to my windows!"
