Storm and Human Torch is a combo that was custom-built to shred through support ults, making the duo an unstoppable combo that can blow the game open if they get their ults off.
It’s not very fun to play against, and, to be honest, there isn’t much counterplay to the Storm/Human Torch ult combo once it’s been activated in most cases.
Dumping 2 support ults is an option, and Scarlet Witch can theoretically one-shot Storm if she lives through the tornado, but both these solutions require coordination and good timing.
Fortunately, there is a true counter to this combo, one that has absolutely nothing to do with their ult. In order to counter Storm/Human Torch, you’ll have to get creative.
There is a method, but it requires a bit of explanation.
How to counter Human Torch & Storm team-up in Marvel Rivals
When it comes to shutting down their Fire Tornado Combo once it’s out, you don’t have many options. Mobile heroes or heroes with invulnerability like Scarlet Witch or Namor can live a bit longer than most, but even that isn’t a guarantee.
You can also invest two support ults at once to live through it, but that requires coordination and, more importantly, a lot more ult charge than Torch/Storm’s combo.
In most cases, using 2 support ults leaves you open to either another big damage ult one-shotting you or the duo getting their ults back before your supports do. It’s not exactly advantageous to dump support ults and should be considered a last resort.
If you’re reading this and thinking there’s no good solution to this ult combo… you’d be right. Every method of counter it has a ton of caveats. So, in order to counter this combo, you have to think outside the box.
Rather than thinking about it in terms of countering the ult, the best solution is to keep Human Torch and Storm from playing the game entirely. The best counter? Hitscan.

If the enemy team has a composition with two flying heroes on it, they’re both heavily countered by stuff like Widow with a Mantis inspire (1-shot headshot against 250 health), Hela, Punisher, Star Lord, Iron Man’s beam, or even Adam Warlock are all great options against this strategy.
And, in the absolute worst case that you’re not confident in your aim but have to put yourself in a position to take them out, pick Scarlet Witch. You may not have a ton of burst, but she’s guaranteed not to miss if she can get close enough.
Rather than waiting for the duo to get their ults, your best bet is to make the game almost impossible to play before they get their ult charge. And, because they have two flying heroes, running a dive comp is a bit difficult.
If they run a dive tank and a third DPS, their supports will be left completely open. Shield tanks can work on their side, but only if the Human Torch/Storm know to fly low. Additionally, taking a flank to get a better vantage point is a viable strategy here to pressure them out.
So, if you end up having to play against this combo and don’t have the luxury of hero bans, the solution isn’t to try and counter their ults directly: Just shut down both heroes entirely and force them to swap. This meta isn’t fun, but there is at least some counterplay.
