Strictly’s Arlene Phillips will choreograph Maureen Lipman’s wedding dance – though she might have to wait a few years to do it…
Corrie star Maureen, 78, popped the question to David Turner this summer but the pair are “in no hurry” to walk down the aisle.
“We haven’t got a date or a venue but we’re looking,” says Maureen. “The thing is, we are married, really. We’ll probably be engaged for about another five years – we’ll get married in hospital.”
Business consultant David joked they will have to ask guests to contribute prescription medication. And pal Arlene, who has overseen many a West End Stage number, adds: “I’m staging the choreography for the wedding dance. We’ll create for you so you don’t have to stomp. It will be different… no ordinary ball.”

Maureen, who plays Evelyn Plummer in the ITV soap, lost her first husband, writer Jack Rosenthal, in 2004. Her partner after Jack, Guido Castro died of cancer in 2021.
Maureen, who got down on one knee to ask David to marry her on a train from Edinburgh, has previously said: “I proposed as a joke as I’d been rather against the ‘M’ word. I never really expected him to say yes, but to my surprise and slight panic, he said it.”
The couple will have to start planning their wedding soon as Maureen reckons David “has about 9,000 relatives”.
She added: “What’s important is that my two, and his three, grown-up kids are happy about it and they get on. I can’t believe I’m marrying again. I’m very lucky to have had three exceptional men in my life. We’re enjoying this unexpected Indian summer of late love together.”
