Zara McDermott, former Love Island star and documentary filmmaker, was subjected to a horrifying attack while out Christmas shopping in the last-minute festive rush.
The former Strictly Come Dancing star described the ordeal as "completely vile" on social media after both her and a pal were targeted in the vile attack.
Detailing the incident to her fans online, Zara recounted how she was with her brother's girlfriend, Alice, when an aggressive individual unexpectedly confronted them, according to reports in OK!
Taking to Instagram to share with her two million followers, she explained: "Guys, me and Alice are actually really shocked at what just happened. We were just getting some last minute christmas bits just walking down the street, normal normal stuff and this guy out of nowhere runs up to us , spits on us, thankfully it just missed because of the wind and then walked off in the other direction. I can't believe it."
In a disturbing update, she added: "I think I would have been really shaken up if alone! Luckily I was with Alice. Had so many messages from other people having experienced the same thing in London. I've heard of men approaching women on the street and hitting them in the face also (a friend of mine had this happen to her) It's completely vile."
Sam Thompson, Zara's other half, has remained silent on her recent frightening experience. However, he's got people abuzz about a possible proposal with a heartfelt birthday tribute to Zara on social media.

He fondly referred to her as "my person" and confessed, "I'm afraid you're stuck with me forever" leading fans to speculate that an engagement could be in the works.
In his emotional Instagram post, Sam wrote: "My best friend, and soul mate....some would say my person. I'm afraid you're stuck with me forever happy birthday. I love you so much, and wow have I missed you over the past month! Here's to another amazing year with you."
The comments section was flooded with excitement and predictions of an impending engagement. Followers chimed in with ring emojis and question marks, while one fan exclaimed: "That's the perfect dress for you to get engaged."
