We've test beds for every sleep position and body type to put together this year's best mattress guide, so we've been able to get hands-on with both the Leesa Studio Chill and Leesa Legend Hybrid mattresses. In this guide, we'll explore Studio Chill vs Legend Hybrid, to discover which Leesa mattress is right for you.

Leesa Studio Chill vs Leesa Legend Hybrid Mattress: price & trial

  • Studio Chill is mid-range, with a queen at usually $899
  • Legend Hybrid is a premium bed — a queen is usually $1,949
  • Both come with a 100-night trial and 10-year warranty

While both the Studio Chill and the Legend Hybrid are from the same brand — Leesa — they sit at different points in the mattress price bracket. The Studio Chill is a mid-range mattress. The Legend Hybrid, on the other hand, is a premium buy.

Leesa typically offers the same mattress sale across both the Studio Chill and the Legend Hybrid. Most of the year, that's a 25% off sale (sometimes with a free gift thrown in as well). But on special occasions, such as Black Friday, we see this discount bumped to 30%. This is the biggest discount we've seen at Leesa, so when 30% off appears, it's the best time to shop.

Let's break down the prices. The Studio Chill Hybrid has an MSRP of $1,199 for a queen, typically reduced to $899. The Legend Hybrid queen size has an MSRP of $2,599, but it's often sold for $1,949. That's a significant price difference.

Despite the contrasting costs, both mattresses have the same benefits: a 100-night trial and 10-year warranty. These are fairly standard extras and a 100-night sleep trial should be enough time to adjust to the bed and decide if it's right for you — but for the premium Legend Hybrid, we might expect slightly better.

Leesa Studio Chill vs Leesa Legend Hybrid Mattress: materials & design

  • Both are 12" hybrid mattresses with memory foam and coils
  • Studio Chill has zoned support springs and three foam layers
  • Leesa Legend has a coil base, micro springs and multiple foam layers

There are some basic similarities between the Studio Chill and the Legend Hybrid. They both measure 12 inches tall, and like all the best hybrid mattresses, they both feature multiple layers of foams and a spring base. Plus, they both have stripes on the cover — a signature of Leesa.

The Studio Chill is a cooler, hybrid upgrade of the Leesa Studio mattress. It features an ultra cool cover followed by quilted foam, with a copper infused memory foam (for even more cooling) beneath. Next is a layer of comfort foam, before the zoned support spring base. A final foam layer enhances durability.

The Legend Hybrid has a breathable cover followed by a layer of ventilated foam. Underneath sits a layer of contouring memory foam, then the zoned support layer — the center third is a strong foam, while the top and bottom consists of cradling micro coils. Finally, a layer of quick response coils creates full-body support, while a stability foam layer increases longevity.

You can also opt to upgrade to the Legend Hybrid Chill, which has an Ultra Cool cover and a slightly different interior.

Leesa Studio Chill vs Leesa Legend Hybrid Mattress: comfort & support

  • Studio Chill has a firmer feel with light contouring
  • Legend Hybrid has a squishy cushioning with ample pressure relief
  • Studio Chill best for back sleepers, Legend Hybrid for side sleepers

The Studio Chill has a medium-firm feel that we rate as seven out of 10 on the firmness scale (one being very soft, 10 rock hard). It's a mattress that you lie on top of, rather than sink into, although there is good contouring at the pressure points.

This medium-firm feel should suit most sleep positions, but side sleepers might prefer some extra cushioning. Our testing panel agreed it was most comofrtble for back sleeping, with good support across the body — and all the way to the edge of the mattress. The responsive surface makes it easy to change position, but despite this bounciness, the motion isolation is impressive.

The Leesa Legend Hybrid mattress has more of a sink-in, classic memory foam feel. The immediate plushness contours to the pressure points and our testers agreed it could rival the best mattresses for side sleepers. We rated it six out of 10 for firmness, with the best support at the center of the bed (the sides are a little weak).

With slow moving foams and responsive micro coils, the Legend Hybrid 'hugs' the body in a way comparable to the best memory foam mattresses. That can make it hard to change position, but the flipside is excellent motion isolation. We think everyone but the lightest of sleepers should rest soundly even if their partner tosses and turns.

Leesa Studio Chill vs Leesa Legend Hybrid Mattress: temperature control

  • Studio Chill has an ultra cool cover and copper-infused foam
  • Legend Hybrid has a breathable cover and ventilated foam
  • Studio Chill has better cooling for hot sleepers

We tested both the Studio Chill and Legend Hybrid in a temperature controlled room, so it's hard to determine just how they compare to the best cooling mattresses. However, while the Studio Chill wasn't 'chill' to the touch, the cover stayed a neutral temperature throughout the testing period.

The Legend Hybrid didn't overheat during our testing and the spring-heavy build indicates decent temperature regulation (coils allow the air to circulate). However, the squishy foams are more likely to hold onto het than the gentle contouring of the Studio Chill.
