George at Asda is stocking a new homeware item that looks similar to one from a much more expensive brand. The retailer, which is known for its budget-friendly prices, has a new Shell Bowl shoppers can't stop talking about.
The £14 White Shell Bowl was shared on Instagram this week, with many people quick to praise it in the comments. George reposted a video from @sweethouseliving, alongside the caption: "Give your Christmas decor a coastal touch with our elegant shell bowl - perfect for festive accessories or sweet treats."
Text over the original clip read: "When you find the perfect winter styling piece for your coffee table for £14 instead of £275!! Best of all you can pick it up whilst you do the food shop. From Asda!!"
The bowl was compared to one sold by designer brand Cox & Cox, which comes with a hefty price tag of £275. The Asda version is almost identical to the Cox & Cox Faux Clam Shell, though shoppers could save around £261 by opting for the high street version.
The post proved popular, gaining hundreds of likes and many comments from excited followers. One person said: "Such a stunning bowl", while another praised: "Beautiful styling." A third added: "Such a bargain!" and a fourth wrote: "Wow now that’s a beauty."
The Asda version has an overall rating of 4.7 stars online, having racked up rave reviews from impressed shoppers. Among them, one person said: "Love this classy piece. Fits in well with my deco. Looks and feels expensive."
A second shopper wrote: "Gorgeous item. Good weight to it and chunky. Beautiful," while a third added: "Beautiful bowl almost identical to one I saw at £280, in fact the Asda one was much nicer." Another said: " Gorgeous bowl. I love this bowl. I use it as a display piece to put my keys in. Looks a lot more expensive than it cost."
A fifth pleased customer said: "Stylish bowl, great price. I bought this after seeing it on social media, looks like a designer double and is a good size. I love it."
However, some shoppers were not quite so impressed and shared their thoughts in the reviews. One wrote: "So cheaply made not worth the price, never even survived the delivery and could clearly see why on close inspection. Expected far more in quality, massively disappointing."
Another added: "First one lost at the Burnley store, no reason or apology. Second one arrived shattered. Very poorly packaged. What a complete waste of time. Asda gone down in my estimation."
