Sesame Street is slated to return for its 55th season with a small number of celebrity guests set to empower the educational programming.
According to a press statement, stars joining the series in the upcoming installment include Michael B. Jordan, Reneé Rapp, SZA, Noah Kahan, Chris Stapleton, Samara Joy, Jonathan Van Ness, and Billie Jean King. SZA previously teased her appearance in the program on social media last year, calling the opportunity a dream “come true.”
“This was the purest happiest day from top to bottom . Thank you for having me and for patching up my inner child,” wrote the Grammy winner on Instagram sharing moments from her time on set with Big Bird, Elmo, Oscar The Grouch, and more.
The 55th season of Sesame Street will focus on emotional well-being, helping children learn accessible strategies to comprehend and cope with big feelings through fun, lighthearted, relatable, and engaging stories, as described by Sesame Workshop, the global impact nonprofit behind the show.
“New episodes of Sesame Street will help young viewers understand and express their feelings, learn new mindfulness practices, and as always, have a blast with their favorite furry and funny friends,” detailed Sal Perez, Executive Producer, of Sesame Street. “Whether it’s taking a volcano breath when angry, learning to give yourself a hug when frustrated, or wiggling it out when disappointed, we are empowering children with the strategies to help build resiliency and the foundational skills for emotional well-being.”
Sesame Street season 55 is set to debut on Thursday, Jan. 16 on Max, with episodes releasing every Thursday. The season be available on local PBS stations across the country and on the free PBS KIDS Video app in Fall 2025.
