Scones may seem like a lot of time and effort to whip up, but they needn't be with this "beyond easy" recipe.

Recipes for scones can often be complicated and the easy ones don’t always test particularly great.
However, the lack of ingredients in this recipe does not compromise on taste, according to baking guru Sandra of the food blog Heavenly Home Cooking.
Describing this sweet treat, she said: “These three-ingredient scones are beyond easy. As the name states, they take only three simple ingredients, use one bowl, and bake in 10 minutes or less.
“If you have a craving for scones, but don't have much time, this is your recipe. They taste great alone, but you can dress them up with jam or curd, as desired. Quick, easy, and delicious.”
Once the scones are ready, Sandra loves to serve them with a fruit jam or curd. However you serve them, “they’re well worth the minimal time and effort they take to make”.

Ingredients
375g self-rising flour
67g granulated sugar
357g double cream
Method
Start by preheating your oven to 220C/200 Fan/ Gas Mark 7 before lining a baking tray with grease-proof paper.
Next, add the flour and sugar to a large mixing bowl and whisk to combine before adding the cream and stirring until a stiff dough forms.
Once the cream has been added, you may need to knead the dough a bit with your hands to incorporate the dry ingredients. If necessary, add a splash of more cream.

Then turn the dough onto a clean and lightly floured working surface and roll out to half an inch thickness.
Use a three-inch diameter biscuit cutter to cut dough into rounds. Repeat as needed to use up all of the dough.
Place the raw rounds on the prepared baking tray and bake until lightly browned - this should take about eight to 10 minutes.

Keep an eye on the scones towards the end of the baking time as over-baking can result in unpleasant and dry scones.
After, remove from oven and allow to cool for a few minutes. Serve warm with butter and jam as desired.
Once you’ve mastered the basic recipe, feel free to experiment with add-ins to make it savoury like grated cheese, herbs, or spices.
