Taylor Swift Book Release Sparks Theories

2 hours ago 4

Taylor Swift fans have theorized that the pop superstar is hinting at another upcoming project on the back cover of her The Official Eras Tour Book.

The book, released on November 29, commemorates the singer's record-breaking Eras Tour—149 shows across five continents—which draws to a close in December. It includes over 500 images, with never-before-seen photos of the tour, rehearsals, designer sketches and behind-the-scenes shots of the tour's instruments, set pieces and costumes.

If that wasn't enough, the book also features personal reflections from Swift herself—including a note to her fans at the back, which has internet sleuths spiraling.

In the message Swift wrote for her fans, she detailed how the Eras Tour came about and what it meant to her. She signed it off by writing: "See you next Era," and Swifties think this could mean one of two things: there is going to be an Eras Tour part two, or she will soon be releasing TS12, the unofficial name of her next album.

Newsweek emailed a spokesperson for Swift for comment on Friday.

Over the years, the pop superstar has preceded her album releases with Easter eggs online and during performances. As such, her every move is often taken to have extra meaning by her dedicated fanbase.

The X account (formerly Twitter) @TheSwiftSociety shared a photo of the note from Swift, with the post receiving more than 563,000 views at the time of writing. A similar photo was also posted by @tswifterastour, where it had been viewed more than 293,000 times.

People took to the comments to share their theories, with many believing a new album was imminent.

"Ts12 is the next era. I'm so here for it!" one person wrote, while another commented: "TS12 HER MAGNIM OPUS."

"omg Ts12 tease," said another.

"TS12 oh I'm ready," someone else posted, while a different X user asked: "Does this mean a new album or something even bigger is coming?"

Others believe it's another tour, with one person commenting: "So the next tour is next era."

Someone else added: "the eras tour part 2 is coming."

Swift previously sent her fans into a meltdown by making a simple hand gesture at her Eras Tour concerts in Canada. While performing her song "Midnight Rain," Swift usually strikes a different pose after singing the lyrics: "And he never thinks of me, except when I'm on TV." But, during one of her shows in Toronto, Swift counted down with her fingers from five to four. During another show, she counted down from four to three. Naturally, Swifties have gone into overdrive, attempting to figure out what this means.

Even though a variety of theories were discussed, some Swifties think the singer is hinting that she will drop her highly anticipated re-recording of her album, "Reputation." However, others simply think it's a countdown to the end of the Eras Tour.

Fans also think Swift was hinting at this rerecording when her team uploaded a photo to the merchandise section of her website. On November 13, fans shared a screenshot showing three sweaters placed on top of one another. The image has been taken as a hint that Swift will be releasing recordings of 2006 debut album, "Taylor Swift," as well as her 2017 album, "Reputation."

"WAIT ... This is an Easter egg," one person wrote on X as they shared the screenshot. "WE ARE GETTING DEBUT TV BEFORE SUMMER AND THEN AFTER SUMMER WE GET REP TV."

In 2019, after music mogul Scooter Braun purchased the rights to Swift's master recordings from her first six albums, Swift announced that she would re-record the albums in dispute.

Since 2021, Swift has released the re-recordings of 2008's "Fearless," 2010's "Speak Now," 2012's "Red," and 2014's "1989." Swift's self-titled debut album and "Reputation" are the only two of the recordings not yet redone.
