It is safe to say that Taylor Swift was the global superstar of 2024. Thanks to the highly successful Eras Tour and the release of her 11th audio album, The Tortured Poets Society, the 34-year-old was the it-girl of the music scene.
That's been confirmed with news that Swift has claimed top spot on Spotify Wrapped 2024, making here the most-streamed artist around the world for the second consecutive year.
Her success this year was no doubt helped by her new album, which racked up 26.6 billion streams on the platform.
Along with streaming numbers, the album also set several other Spotify records including being the first album to surpass 300 million streams in a single day and crossing 1 billion streams within its first week of release.
Swift thanks fans for their support
The numbers show how much Swift's fans support her, and that wasn't lost on the artist as she thanked them on Instagram.
"Top Streamed Artist AND Album on @spotify this year?! You guys are unbelievable," she wrote on her Stories.
"What an amazing thing to find out going into our last weekend of eras shows. THANK YOU!"
Along with Swift, Spotify's year end list is a testament to the success of female artists in 2024. Women claimed eight of the Top 10 spots on the platform's global albums chart.
After Swift, other names on the list include Billie Eilish's Hit Me Hard and Soft, Sabrina Carpenter's Short n' Sweet, and Karol G's Ma?ana Ser? Bonito.
Ariana Grande, SZA and Swift herself (thanks to two other albums) also made the list.
