Taylor Swift has been reportedly losing out on followers ever since the pop star was booed at Super Bowl 2025. According to Social Blade’s report, the singer lost nearly 150K followers since the incident, as per data obtained from sports gaming site SportsMillions. The outlet also spoke to several Swifties, who expressed their opinions about the same.
Meanwhile, Taylor Swift’s support for boyfriend Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs did not help the team at the Super Bowl this year. The Chiefs’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles only added to the unfortunate memory that night.
Taylor Swift reportedly lost followers after the Super Bowl booing incident
Social Blade recently came up with a report, announcing Taylor Swift’s drop in Instagram followers. The outlet reported that the pop icon’s follower count dropped nearly 150K on the social media platform after the event. The drop is not too significant, given the singer has 282 million followers on Instagram as of this writing.
However, it was the event that sparked a loss in followers that is worth noting. For those unaware, Taylor Swift was met with unexpected boos during the Super Bowl LIX. She arrived to support her boyfriend Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs’ game against the Philadelphia Eagles. As soon as the jumbotron displayed her in real time, the crowd erupted in loud boos. While the singer laughed it off, the video went viral on social media, sparking a variety of reactions from netizens.
Alexis Winters, the corresponding secretary of the New York Young Republican Club, shared insights about the followers drop. Winters told the NY Post that Swift’s drop in followers is a sign that the singer should stay away from politics. They said, “We are tired of celebrities calling down to us from their ivory towers giving their two cents on policies that will never impact them.”
The Queens resident also noted that the drop in Swift’s followers represents Americans who “chose their president over the woke Hollywood mob.”
On the other hand, Travis Kelce saw quite the opposite fate concerning follower count. Social Blade also reported that the NFL athlete’s Instagram page witnessed a major bump of over 12K followers. Jenna Piwowarczyk, representing the Swifties for Trump movement, condemned the difference in treatment for the two stars. She further called the booing gesture towards Swift “uncalled for and gross.”
