Taylor Swift once again proved that fans should expect the unexpected when it comes to the Eras Tour.
During her Thursday, November 21 concert in Toronto, the pop sensation treated the audience to a surprise song that mixed two fan-favorite tracks tied to one of her most famous exes, Joe Jonas.
As part of her acoustic set, Swift, 34, picked up her guitar and began with "Mr. Perfectly Fine," a song from Fearless (Taylor's Version), which was released in 2021. But it was the seamless transition into "Better Than Revenge" that truly got fans buzzing.
"Better Than Revenge "has been long speculated by fans to be about 35-year-old Jonas's relationship with actress Camilla Belle — which blossomed shortly after his split with Swift after a brief romance in 2008. Swifties know all too well that the 14-time Grammy winner's song lyrics are often deeply personal, and the first verse of this track reflects that feeling of being blindsided by a breakup: "She came along, got him alone, and let's hear the applause / She took him faster than you can say 'sabotage.'"
It's safe to say fans were A-Okay with Swift's performance, taking to X (formerly Twitter) to express their feelings – and rehash some old ones with Jonas.
"My two favorite songs on Fearless and Speak Now. I understand why others have mental breakdowns," said one fan, while another took things to the extreme, commenting, "taylor swift played mr perfectly fine x better then revenge so i blocked joe jonas." A third cheekily noted, "She just flipped off Joe Jonas from Toronto lol."
While these songs might still stoke old memories of her past with the former Joe bro, the pair have long since moved on. In May 2023, Joe confirmed he was on good terms with Swift, sharing with Armchair Expert host Dax Shepard that he's "cool with Taylor. We're cool." Which should be the case, especially since Swift went on to become close friends with Jonas's now ex-wife, Sophie Turner, and even consoled her after their split in 2023. "Taylor was an absolute hero to me this year," Turner, 28, told Vogue U.K. back in May.
